If you wish to drive the BMW GTR in free roam without hacking your game just select Quick Race and go to Starlight Street, then turn around and go through the shortcut. NOTE: There are no traffic or cops in Quick Race.

As a feat of engineering it is a very close call, Lamborghini's all out approach does definitely deserve the attention it receives. BMW made a sportscar which is as practical, efficient and user friendly as any normal car, but will also shine on the track.
In the end the M3 is but a sportscar. The engineers had a strict brief to stick to so they couldn't make it as mad as the Murcielago. Lamborghini's engineers and designers on the other hand sat down and said "how do we meake the next car that blows everyone's minds?" and that's how they do things.
Most people would say that the Lambo is "better" but you can't really compare them.
