That is not necessarily true, many animals camouflage to their environment. Some are, chameleons, leaf and stick insects... really any animal that's color helps them blend into the environment.

Some species of pythons such as the Australian Antaresia spp. (spotteds, stimsons, childrens and pygmy pythons) average around 1-1.5m! On the other hand, the largest cobra is the king cobra, known to reach lengths of 15ft. The longest python is the reticulated python, believed to reach lengths of 30ft!

If you mean how do you behave around a boa constrictor, then you move slowly so that you don't startle it. Let it climb on you as if you were a tree, not a predator grabbing it. When getting one out of an enclosure, it's best to have some way to tell it it isn't feeding time. For example, you could rub a snake hook along it to let it know there isn't food coming. Don't lift up just by tail, if lifting by the tail lift it a bit and put your hand under the middle of its body before lifting it out. Don't tap on its enclosure as it could stress them out. Try to stay away from it's head, unless for diagnosis purposes or if letting someone touch it who's afraid of snakes, etc. Don't just flip it around like it's a bag of potatoes, it's a living being with a sense of balance and this will just disorient them. Don't pick them up by the head, and be gentle! If feeding, don't just reach in and grab them, that's just asking to get bit, and you don't want a big angry boa biting you! And, of course don't grab one with prey scent on your hand as they will be in feeding mode, and you will get bit.

Emerald Tree Boas are very similar to the green tree python. They are bright green in colour with a yellow coloured underside. They have an irregular zigzag stripe along their back and they reach lengths between 1.5 and 2 m (5 - 5.5 ft).

They have a strong prehensile tail which helps them to move around between the branches of trees. They spend their days coiled over branches with their head resting in the middle of the coils and they hunt at night.

Their eyes have vertical pupils which help them to sense movement and they have deep pits in the scales around their mouth for detecting heat given off by their prey.

Boa Constrictors do make great pets if you don't mind a snake that can get 6-10 feet. The larger size of them is not for everyone. However, they are not the largest snakes out there. I currently have 9 ball pythons, 6 red tail boa ( boa constictors), 7 kenyan sand boas, and 1 amazon tree boa. Of the snakes I own, the boa constrictors are my favorite. But remember they do get larger then the others I have but they have great temperment. If you can house one and don't mind cleaning the cage once a week or every time it deficates and cleaning the water bowl every 2-3 days. They make wonderful pets.
