There really isn't anything you can do, to be honest. You'll just kind of have to back off of him and stay friends. It depends on if he knows you like him or not though, too. I think what you should do is send him one email or voicemail just letting him know that if he wants some space or something to think that you understand, but you would really appreciate if he could contact you and let you know he's okay and that this is the case. Yes, if you haven't started to steady date them, but once you start you should be able to talk about different things. It would take several dates perhaps (if you are a shy person) to feel totally comfortable. Not all of us are blessed with total self confidence and a smooth gift of gab, so, some of us find it painful when someone we love starts to talk to us. Well, you could either be a very sensitive person or if this problem has only started occurring more recently you could be depressed about something.
