In my opinion, and I am only 22 years old, the child should not stay over at her boyfriend's residence until she is 18 years of age, and in turn, moved out of her parent's house. It is about instilling responsibility in the child/teenager. You have to structure it around them, and help to guide them into it.

It all depends on what you did. If you cheated what you need to do is admit your wrong and give her some space and time for a couple of months and then go to her with a new outlook and attitude about the relationship and her and make her understand that your going to change and make things right. My ex just did that but you need to be sincere and honest and real no more lies and game playing she's already hurt so don't try to act like she doesn't have feelings and try to stumble all over her again. We just ignored the problems... well, didn't ignore them. Just didn't fix them. Took each other for granted a bit. Wanted to believe things would get better on their own, but they never did. Until we got to the breaking point, where the only way to break the cycle was to break up. Very foolish... agreed we wished we could have seen this earlier. The conversation was very open, both of us knew it was the only way to break the cycle, though neither of us "wanted" to break up. But even at the end of the conversation and all throughout, we talked about how we had wanted to get married (but can't if those problems will occur in the future), and how much we love each other. The first thing you should have done was talk openly about why you had to break up, then chang the things that got you there in the first place and then do something about it together. One person can't solve the problems that two people are experiencing. If your love is strong as you suggest in your question why didn't the two of you do something together to avoid the break up in the first place.

RUN! If a boy is obsessed you have to get out! He is just trying to control you so you fall that in love with him, he is trying to make you the one he loves and him the one you love. You should not feel obligated to tell your ex anything. He/she is your ex, which means he/she has no right to any decisions in your life. It is none of his or her business. If by chance you are still seeing this person (maybe sexually) than you have made a mess of things and have not made a clean break. For that reason, you should just simply tell your "ex" if you are seeing someone new rightaway. If this is a clean break up, than move on with your life and enjoy your new special friend without a second thought about your ex.
