A GM TSB (technical service bulletin) back in 2006 said that it was not unreasonable for my 2005 LaCrosse 3.8L V6 to consume one (1) quart of oil every 2,000 miles. Mine actually used 1 Qt every 1,300 miles and after fighting the local GM people at the dealership for eight months, they finally replaced the valve guide rod seals under warranty.
