You don't need to dye them. You can use food coloring to color them.
Fondant (noun) is a cake decorating term. It is a sugary substance rolled out and used to cover cakes. It allows for smooth surfaces and a multitude of decorations.
The easiest thing to do is to get a tip for the icing bag that make a design, so you only have to squeeze the icing out but it comes out looking like a rose. Place the icing flowers scattered around the cake, or in a neat little ro along and edge or base.

It depends on the type of cake, and how good the decorator is. For cake with simple designs and icings, they should be able to complete anywhere from 3 or 4 to a dozen (for small sizes) cakes in an hour. For more elaborate designs or impornant, larger cakes (graduations, baby showers, weddings, ect.), it should take them a few hours just to complete that one cake.
6.818 tonnes or just over fifteen thousand pounds. A lot of cake, huh? Try eating it all. This cake was made in Connecticut by the local Casino Chefs for a mighty fine occasion. Hungry anyone?

It depends on where you are, exactly. Many cooking schools, bakeries, large supermarkets (that have their own bakery department and kitchen), professional kitchens, college classes, hobby-like classes, and individuals will teach cake decorating classes. It can be anywhere from a person's private kitchen to a school to a professional kitchen.
Usually buttercream icing is the most common icing for decorating cakes and cupcakes :)

I'm not positive I understand the question clearly, but if you're looking for a cake decorating supply store, I have ordered from A & H Cake Design. They are located in southwest Florida. If you have questions about how to make a particular flower or how to use any of the supplies, they will take the time on the phone to explain to you.
You can also buy a large variety of cake decorating supplies at craft stores. There are Micheal's or JoAnn's throughout the state of Florida, and they both have a large selection. Most Wal-Mart locations have a decent selection of cake decorating supplies, as does Target.
When you paint and decorate something, normally a room in a house.
Frost your entire cake with the primary color you wish to use. Pipe the secondary color on the cake in straight parallel lines. Turn the cake so that the stripes appear to be going from top to bottom. Take a small thin device, toothpicks work well, and carefully pull it through the surface of the icing. Go in a line from right to left. Move about an inch up and pull it through the icing going left to right. Keep going in lines switching directions. It will pull the lines of color through the primary icing. It would create an effect much like the cake labeled "Toothpick Frosting" in the related links below, except it would be striped instead of spiral.
For a more realistic zebra skin effect, you could also try the aerosol icing colors that are available at most grocery stores. You would frost your cake white and then basically "airbrush" the stripes where ever you would like them. It is fairly simple to use, even if it may be your first time.
There is almost no flower that can't be formed out of boiled fondant frosting if you make it stiff enough. Please, no fake on the cake.
you could use any kind really. royal, satin, butter-cream, or even whip cream. if you are going for a more elegant look try using royal and/or satin. royal icing is easy to get smoothed onto the cake. whip cream will leaves air bubbles, won't go on smooth, and has tendency to melt. hope this helped! (:
Im sure Michaels and hobby lobby have it, but as I'm looking online I can't find the dates. I'm going to drop by the stores and ask.
you can use anything as a decoration as long as no one is allergic to what you are using. just remember to be creative and mistakes can be insperation!
Depending on your creativity, you can do just about anything! If you are struggling for inspiration, why not purchase some interior design magazines, or design blogs online to help find some styles that could influence you.
The star tip is used for a number of things. For example, it's used for piping decorative borders around cakes, for piping flowers on cakes, for piping the egg filling into the cooked egg whites for deviled eggs, and can be used for piping whipping cream on the top of desserts.
