The simple answer is yes. It is a very basic instinct for newborn kittens to suckle from their mothers. Without it there would be no cats! Mother cats have their own unique way of encouraging their kittens to nurture their instincts, so you can be assured that she will be doing things right, even if you cant see how she is doing it! In some unfortunate instances, one or more kittens in a litter will have a birth defect. Such defects are not usually apparent to us as observers, since they are often internal, however, in cases like these the mother cat may reject the kitten completely or even kill it herself. You must be very carefull in determining whether a kitten has been rejected by its mother, so do not sit there waiting to see signs of it, because chances are you will see what you expect to see. If you take a kitten away from its mother unnecessarily she may consider her brood threatened and may kill them all. The best way is to trust in nature... it's older than we are and it knows what it's doing. Only intervene as an absolute last resort, and only if you are certain.

They're mostly active when they're hungry and searching for the mother's nipples. once their eyes and ears fully open they become much more active.

The eyes of the kitten must be open, and it must have fully developed legs and teeth. This usually happens between 3 to 4 weeks.

•Coyotes often eat cats in some parts of the US. Other potential predators may be wolves or mountain lions. I am assuming you mean domestic cats.

•Foxes will also eat cats.

The answer to that would depend on your willingness to give time and effort; ie if you want a low-maintainence pet, I would suggest a fully mature (but not an old geezer) cat, instead of a kitten. However, if you are willing to give more, or want to get two or more, I would recommend a kitten.

Note: Make sure the kitten is old enough to be taken away from it's mother; a few weeks may not be enough!

yes. It could be broken too. It could also be cut, a pad might be torn, bitten, burned, or it could have picked up a thorn, staple or some kind of burr. This kind of condition or behavior justifies a trip to the vet.

I would HIGHLY suggest it -- many wild animals that come in close contact with homes are flea-carriers (squirrels, especially) but flea-infestation from that is pretty unlikely.

Well you should never feed it cow milk or baby formula or that would cause an upset stomach and diaherra. Feed the kitten cat milk which you can find at a local store. You can also give it plain water. You can give it those for a while then you can give it soft cat food also found at a local store. I hope that helped you. (:

Call the vet they will remove the cats claws for a fee. They will have to put your cat to sleep and then they cut the claws off then they stitch them up.

Cats are strict carnivores, so live predominantly on a diet of fresh raw meat. Domestic cats aren't all that different from big cats such as lions. Pet cats, like their wild cousins, get all their nutrition from meat-based proteins and fats. A pet cat that has access to outside might hunt and eat small birds, mice, voles and other small wildlife animals. Some owners feed their cats raw meat, offal (organs) and bone to mimic the food a cat would eat in the wild.

Due to the vast variety of different cat foods out there - dry and wet and even moist - each pet cat's diet can vary wildly. Premium cat foods often have a high meat content which is the best to feed your cat.

Many dry foods and low-quality wet foods are often packed with carbohydrates - "filler" in the way of grains and cereals, none of which cats can digest or gain any nutrients from. Grain is used instead of meat because it is cheaper to produce and helps kibble pieces hold together. Cats need MEAT based protein, not PLANT based protein. Cats will often overeat on lower quality foods because they are not getting all the nutrients they need, which often results in obesity.

Feeding garlic to dogs works as an effective flea prevention treatment. Probably much better for the animal than applying chemicals to the coat. As for use on puppies, you may want to check with vet.
