Cat Maintenance

Cat maintenance focuses on the hair and claws of the cat. Combing a cat’s fur is an excellent way of getting rid of hair balls and checking for fleas. One should provide a scratching post to keep the cat's nails trimmed.

Your cat starting going to the bathroom on the floor furniture?

Some cats will start to do this as kind of a passive aggressive measure if they are being left alone too much or something has changed in the house. You can cover his favorite furniture with plastic until you are able to solve the problem. You'll evaluate that and its cause, which is not always easy. Alternatively, if you have a unneutered male cat, he may be marking his territory.

Do cats stink?

It usually depends on the specific cat itself. Some cats clean their coats regularly, reducing/eliminating odors, while others simply think,"ah, my owner will do it eventually" like one of my many cats.

Where can one purchase cat enclosures?

Outdoor cat enclosures can be bought in a wide variety of places. A simple place to buy a cat enclosure is by visiting a local pet store, such as Petland.

How do you cut a cats nails?

You simply take cat nail clippers and clip it before the quick. The quick is the part on the nail that's pink. You want to make sure you don't cut this part, or it'll bleed, because usually a cats nail is white, so you can usually see a pink/red color on the nail. You would cut before the red/pick part(the quick).

How much does a pet cost anually?

How much a pet costs annually varies first with the type of pet, and next it's needs. Obviously it will cost more to feed a big dog than a small one, for instance. And a big doghouse costs more to build or buy than a small one. The other big variable is the animal's state of health. A healthy, happy, well-fed pet will cost you less per year than an ill one of the same kind as you won't be spending money for veterinary care. So in the long run it pays to feed your pet the best you can afford, give them plenty of clean water, ideally filtered like you drink, and to allow it plenty of exercise.

After initial expenses you could keep a healthy cat or small dog, feeding it top-quality species-appropriate food, for about $900 per year. Here is the cost breakdown for a cat.

To adopt a healthy rescued cat from a pet store will cost you about $50. The cat will come spayed or neutered, but at first you will have to buy a litterbox, catbed, toys, and a sturdy carrier for travel, too. Together these accessories can cost another $100 or more. You will save money if you buy them all large enough for an adult cat because your kitten will grow faster than you think.

If your cat will be mostly indoors using a litterbox permanently, then plan on another about $15 per month for clumping litter, or about $150 per year, if you scoop at least a couple times daily to keep the litter fresh and clean so you almost never have to change out the whole box. Non-clumping litter is cheaper but you must change it all out frequently.

Human grade, grainless canned catfood is best and can cost over a dollar for a 6-oz can. A big adult tomcat can eat two cans a day so you could spend up to $730 annually for catfood. Top quality dry food is somewhat less expensive but can be dehydrating if it is all you feed. Be sure if you do feed mainly dry food that you keep plenty of fresh water available for your pet.

If you can afford to keep a pet the love you share with your furkid will far outshine any expense.

Why do cats pee?

The same reason as humans do. They have to get rid of their liquid waste.

Is cleaning a house that is covered in cat feces dangerous for a human?

Yes.

Where there is cat feces, there is also cat urine, and urine decomposes into ammonia, which is a poisonous gas. In addition, cat feces contains bacteria, and in a house full of cat feces, the feces become aerosolized, which increases the chance of the bacteria to be inhaled. The decomposition of cat feces releases sulfur-containing gases, some of which might be changed to sulfuric acid when dissolved in water (as they would be in the lungs).

What can you give your pregnant cat for pain from a sprain?

The best thing to do is to take the cat to the vet, so she can be given the correct treatment. Never try and medicate a cat at home as this can easily lead to overdosing the cat.

What do you feed your 8 week old kitten?

Wet kitten food is best, but dry can be fed, also. As long as the food has plenty of meat in it and no cereals, grains or corn in. For young kittens, soft food will be easier for them to eat.

Cats are carnivores so they derive all the nutrients from meat, so it makes sense to find a food with a high (50% or over) meat content. This should be the FIRST, or first couple of ingredients (listed as Chicken, Turkey, Lamb, Tuna, etc.). Foods that are free of grains, corns, and wheat gluten are highly recommended as these are cheap "filler" that bulk up foods - but have no nutritional value for your kitten. Wet food with these specifications are much easier to find than in dry food.

Kittens are constantly growing and developing, so they need all the nutrients they can get. Typically, a kitten will need twice as much protein as an adult cat, so it is usually best to feed the kitten as much as it needs until it is around a year old.

How do you open a orphaned kitten's eyes?

It is not a very good idea to open a kitten's eyes. It could damage a kitten's growth. Keep in mind that a kitten's eyes are fully open in four weeks.

So, I suggest seeing a vet if the eyes are not developing and not opening after a long period of time.

Would a six-month-old kitten mind a eight-week-old kitten being added to the family?

It depends on the kitten. Some cats will never be happy being around other cats. It should be fine as long as you introduce them slowly, and don't leave them alone together for the first couple of days.

I take in strays - 8 months ago I introduced a 5 month old to my other cats. 3 months ago I took in an 8 week old kitten, and last month I took in a 10 week old. For the past week I have been minding a motherless month old kitten for a friend. It usually takes about 2 or 3 days for the newbie to settle in and be accepted, but they all get along eventually. They play-fight, as cats do, but never hurt each other.

Good luck.

Usually if a kitten is young it will be more open-minded, and a 6 month old would probably be best friends with the 8 week old and play because they are both kittens and they will have each other to play with. Some cats are the exception because they have had an insecure past, but if they hiss at each other at first give it a couple of days and they will most likely settle down. :)
it could take them from 3 days to several weeks for them to get along, i know this from personal experience, they may get into fights that you might have to break up.

Feeding of one day old cat?

A one day old cat should not be away from it's mother. It needs to be weaned first. If you have no choice, feed it warmed (not hot!) cat milk from a bottle till it's weaned. If possible, let it's mother do the job, though.

What does a tortoiseshell calico like to eat?

Hi there...like any other domestic cat they require a diet rich in animal protein and taurine. Even pedigree cats require the same dietary needs as a calico cat. Exotic cats however require a diet which is more suitable for their order of carnivora species. Hi there...like any other domestic cat they require a diet rich in animal protein and taurine. How do you get money on mweor?

There are plenty of ways to make money on that site. The easiest & most commonly used way is to play the daily games- Guess the Number, Mouse-Cat-Dog, & Paw Draw. Guess the Number is simple- the computer will generate a number between 0-999, & when you guess it you get money based on how many tries it took you. Mouse-Cat-Dog is basically rock-paper-scissors. Paw Draw is like a lottery.

If you have enough money to go on a shopping spree, go to Item Finder & learn what Purple wants from you. Then go to the Shop search & search for that item. Buy however many you need & give them to Purple. Don't worry about spending the money- you'll always get more money than you spent.

If you have more than one mweor, put them up for stud. You can charge a fee to anyone who breeds with that mweor, so you'll get money every time. You could also sell your mweors.

Good luck!

How do you get rid of stray cats with lemons?

Buy a clean, empty spray bottle, and some bottles of lemon juice. Spray copious amounts of lemon juice everywhere you don't want the cats to be. Most cats HATE citrus. The smell of anything citrus will usually drive them away, especially lemon.

Not always, though. Some cats are not bothered by it, for example, my uncle once had a cat that loved to eat oranges.

It also depends on what is attracting the cats to your property in the first place. Are they coming to your trash cans for food garbage, or taking food you leave out for your dog or another pet?

Because if it's food they're after, they may be willing to put up with the lemon smell. Hungry animals will go to great lengths and endure great discomfort for food. If there's food or food garbage for them to eat, you will have to remove the food or seal up the garbage, or the lemon probably won't work very well.

It's not a foolproof solution, but it's the simplest, cheapest, and most humane way to keep cats away.
