No. DVD-R and DVD+R are designed to be written to, once only.
The laser which is used to write the information onto the disc, causes a permanent change to the disc itself, referred to as 'Burning' for good reason. Once burnt it cannot be unburnt. or in other words it cannot be recorded over.
To record over discs you need the special ones called DVD-RW. The RW refers to 'Read/Write'. The sensitive layer inside the disc, is designed to be altered by the laser and remains changed until the laser, with sufficient power, passes over it again.
The relative low power of the reading laser does not affect it.
Because CDs are better than tapes (for a multitude of reasons). Before CDs, manufacttureres could sell tapes at high prices because there was no better alternative. However when CDs were invented, if taped had stayed at the same inflated prices, nobody would have bought them, so the price had to come down or manufacturers would have loads of tapes priced really high, competing with (better) CDs.
I can't find drivers for Samsung SH-S223?
Drivers are not necessary for modern CD/DVD drives. There is a generic driver built into the operating system.
The first sundials were thought to have been used at around 3,500 BC (about 5,500 years ago). As they were first used such a long time ago, no one knows exactly who invented them.
This method of using the sun to tell the time was later adapted into one of the oldest forms of clock, the sundial. By using a vertical pole on a horizontal surface, the pasting of daylight hours could be easily tracked. This method for of telling time is still used today, and not just as decoration in gardens. By placing an angled vertical plain onto a circular horizontal plain, like a clock face and placing it in the sun, a simple clock has been made. As the sun shines onto the sundial, a shadow is produced, and this points to a number. This number is the hour of the day. It is a very simple idea, but it was still not very accurate, as on a cloudy, or rainy day, the sundial would be useless. Nevertheless this method was used for over 2000 years without much improvement. Then something new came along.

Can you burn music on a DVD and play it in your truck?
If your vehicle has a standard CD player, it will not play DVDs.
Update: Depends on the sound equipment you have in your truck. If it is quite new ( a couple of years) it might work. The one in my car (auto) will play MP3 files off a home recorded CD but not off a DVD. Find the manual for the device and see what recording formats it supports. If you don't have the manual you may be able to find a copy online, try searching at www.manualsonline.com for the make and model (of the sound device - not the truck!).
The process of copying a file to a storage medium is actually quite simple. I like to use window explorer. Once you find the file you want to copy right click the folder and then click copy. Then find the file under computer that has your USB (storage medium) right click it and then click paste. The file has been copied. Copying multiple files is very much the same, but when you need to hold the shift key down each time you select a file. Once you have chosen all you files and they are highlighted the steps are the same.

How do you disarm the copy protection software on dvd's?
You can't. Unlike VHS which happens to be an analog format of video when all you had to do was rip off the tab (sort of like on audio cassettes) so you could make a copy of the video. DVD's are completely different. When DVD's are made, special software gets embedded within the DVD to prevent copies from being made. Since DVDs are read-only just like CDs are, (read-only means only what's on the disc can be read or viewed, nothing can be added or changed), so you can't remove the software. Copy protected digital media is a controversial topic, with most consumers saying they should be able to make a back-up copy of movies at home for their own use, while the companies are attempting to restrict copying digital media altogether due to piracy concerns. What are pits and lands on CD-ROM?
All Optical media (CD, DVD, Blu-Ray etc.) have pits and lands. These are microscopic and represent the binary information of the data stored on the disc. A land is reflective and reflects the laser into a sensor to register it as a I, but when the light hits a pit, it shatters and no reflection is received, thus a O is registered. There is much confusion as to which is a pit and which is a land, even some professional texts get it wrong, but this is the way I was educated.

What is the difference between DVD-r and DVD r and which is better quality?
There are two kinds of DVD R there is DVD+R and DVD-R. My personal experience was buying a DVD recorder and bought the DVD+R media . The +R media would not work on my machine. Went back to the store and the sales associate explained that there were two kinds. -R and +R. Which recording media is more common and (s)he said -R. Obviously my recorder takes -R
