Is Cheerleading more dangerous than football?

no football isn't more dangerous then cheerleading. (im going to probably get alot of critisism from all the guys out there for saying that) but it is true. cheerleading is very dangerous * when you tumble and are upside down in mid air relying on nothing but * how hard you pushed of your legs, feet, arms or hands * how fast you cant get yourself over * if you got yourself high enough * knowing that if you can't get your self over there is a huge chance of falling straight down on your head breaking your neck * or if you twist your arm on just a backhandspring it could mean a * broken arm * fractured wrist * messed up shoulder * screwed up elbow. * you could break anything when your tumbling. and taking into consideration how high some girls go up when they tumble it would be a fall from a pretty desent hight. including all the dangers of tumbling and how injured you could really be. stunting is equally dangerous * your flyer(the one in the air) is up on one leg or two held up by nopthing more then two people and the backspot. * if they fall from just a prep(chest level) an arm or leg could easily be broken * falling from an extention(arms straight above you head) could cause a broken neck arm leg etc. * if your flyer is in an extention but doing a one legged stunt(only holding one foot) and is pulling libs, scorpions, arabesks, or whatever the could fall * and anyone who would try to ceatch them could be injured because of the way there body would be * the flyer could also gt injured * and at this stage the bases could get really hurt to. * if your doing basket tosses(the bases make there hand into a basket looking things the flyer puts there feet on top and the bases chuck em up there) the flyer could come down 5 feet away from you if you threw crooked * she could land on her side back or head depending on what she was going to do in the air when you threw her. * if the flyer comes down off sideways but not alot she could land on a base injuring herself and them there is soooooo much more but i will leave it at that, it really is a dangerous sport, more dangerous then football by far.

How do you do a back handspring?

The back handspring is a difficult movement for a beginner, but once you learn the art of a back handspring, it becomes easier. First you need to stretch your arms, back, and legs. Then you'll need a spotter. If you don't have a spotter and your a beginner, please wait until you get a spotter, because it is a proven fact that you can break your back or neck doing a back handspring without a spotter.

Before you start your back handspring, make sure your in a proper position. Start with your feet together and arms up. Your spotter should be holding your back with one hand, and his/her other hand on your thighs. Next, lean back like you are sitting in a chair, knees directly over your legs. Then, jump and push through your toes while your shoulders go down, and push your feet over the top and to a standing position.

Also make sure you can see your hands the whole time. If your at a gym ask if they have any boulders to practice with (just make sure the barrel isn't too small).

It is important you work on pretty solid handstands before you try this so your hands can support your weight, so when you go back you don't land on your head and break your neck. You need to work on a lot of bridges, they will help your body be in the correct stretches and shapes for the back handspring.

And that is how you do a back handspring.

If a stunt falls the spotter should try to catch?

YES! its the main concern suring stunting that the flyer doesnt hit the ground. It's the bases and back spots job to make sure they catch her no matter what. If theres and extra spot, he/she should get in and grab what ever they can to make sure the flyer is safe.

What are some cheerleading stretches?

I do cheerleading and every time we have practice we do these stretches -- try holding them each for 10 seconds and the split and the strattle for 25.

-do 25 jumping jacks

-sit in a strattle position and touch your toes on the right, left, and then the middle

-put your feet straight out in front of you and spread them about 6" apart; now touch your toes

-put your feet out straight in front of you and touch your toes

-ut one foot out in front of you and the other one bent so that your foot is on your knee; not reach for your toes and switch legs

-get in a lunge position with your knees on the ground and lean forward while your hips are straight; now do the other leg

-lean back on one knee and stretch out the other leg and point your toe; reach for your toe and switch legs

-do a split with both legs; try adding time onto 25 seconds and your split will get even better!!

-rotate your arms backwards and forwards in medium, big, and small circles

-lift one leg up in the air so that it is straight while you are sitting down; have the other leg bent towards the leg you are stretching; make sure that your leg is straight and put your hand on the heel of your foot; now switch legs

I hope these work for you and make you become a better cheerleader =]

What is a cheerleading strattle?

First of all, it is straddle. A straddle is one of the three splits that cheerleaders do. These splits are also used in gymnastics, ballet, and more.

Straddle- The split you are in when you are facing forward with both legs spread out at your side. To get into this split, if you don't understand, stand with both legs shoulder width apart and keep sliding outward as far as you can go.

Left Split- The split you are in when your left leg is in front. To get into this split, stand facing forward, and put your left leg in front, and your right leg behind you, then slide your legs further out in that direction as far as you can go.

Right Split- The split you are in when your right leg is in front. To get into this split, do the same as a left split (directions above) but with your right leg in front, and left behind you. Hope that helps!

What is the hardest part about cheerleading?

Answer

The hardest part about cheerleading is probably just having the stamina and ability to do it. There are many different things that require many different muscles and parts of your body and although they look hard they can come easy to some people. You also have to be able to multi-task or you wont have a clue what your doing and what comes next. You just have to be in shape because cheerleading is a HARD sport.

Do cheerleaders immediately get a bad reputation?

Usually.. Lots of cheerleaders have a bad reputation because of media, or just because of other jealous girls who spread crap about them. Some cheerleaders are really how everyone thinks they are, they let the popularity get to them and they become selfish brats. Most cheerleaders though are sweet, smart, extremely athletic girls that everyone gives a bad rep to because they're jealous. I'm a cheerleader and i, and my squad are just showing our spirit, and doing what we love. I've been a tumbler all my life, and I'm not gonna quit because of who people think I am just because I'm a cheerleader. We're determined to show people who we really are. While we have a bad rep at first, once people get to know us, and realize this, they respect us, and they see who cheerleaders really are.
