There are three types of Iron
1. Pig Iron
2. Cast Iron
3. Wrought Iron (Commercially purest form of iron)
What homemade additive can you add to gasoline to get better mileage?
Fuel additives are used to improve an automobile's environmental performance and increase its mileage. Some homemade fuel additives are ethanol and a mixture of acetone, xylene and cycle oil.
There are many different kinds of sugars. They are a group of polysaccharides. Some sugars are simple, like glucose, and some are more complex, like wheat germ. Sugars in food come from plant sources. In fact, almost all plant foods including vegetables contain at least some sugar. Plants make sugar to store energy they collect from the sun.
Difference bw shell and sub shell?
electrons revolve around the nucleus . shell is the path of the electron whre the electrons revolves. subshell is the region around the nucleus where you can find the probability of electron most. so shell attains circular/elliptical shape where as subshell attains different shapes(spherical,dumb-bell...etc)
Swern oxidation is a type of chemical reaction that occurs in chemistry. It takes a primary alcohol and converts it to a ketone or aldehyde using DMSO or COCI2, along with an organic base.
How cement was produced before the invention of the rotary kiln?
Before the invention of the rotary kiln, cement production was a much more laborious process. It was usually stirred continuously in a wheelbarrow or other receptacle.
Design of fire fighting system?
The new design of the fire fighting system, has a glass bulb around the sprinkler, and if the fire or temperature of the room reach a certain degree then the glass will shatter. When the glass shatters then automatically the sprinkler will shower the room with water.
Depends on temperature. For ASTM D323 the RVP of water is ~49.5 mmHg (torr) gauge or ~809 mmHg absolute (assuming standard pressure). FYI - ASTM D323 is measured at 100F.
What is the difference between hammer mill and ball mill ginders Which is more efficient?
A hammer mill uses a pounding motion to grind things. A ball mill grinder uses a roller to grind things. The ball mill grinder is going to be more efficient because the product is pushed through the rollers at a specified thickness.
How do you make a scale model of a roman aqueduct?
A scale model of a Roman aqueduct will have water flowing from a higher source into a series of channels. An easy way to accomplish this would be to stack different size plastic bowls, with the smallest at the top. Each bowl will have a small hole in the bottom for drainage. The bottom bowl could be sitting on a piece of sod with ditches cut into it.
A 2 inch hose carries how many times the volume of a 1 inch hose?
The formula for volume of a pipe (or hose) is V =(PI/4) * D2 * L Assuming that each section of hose is the same length, we can find the volume for each diameter hose. V2-inch = (PI/4)*(2 in)2*L = PI*L V1-inch = (PI/4)*(1in)2*L = 0.25PI*L So the ratio of volumes of 2 inch to 1 inch hose is : V2-inch / V1-inch = PI*L / 0.25PI*L = 4:1
p.t.f.e. means polytetrafluoroethylene. The most famous brand name for PTFE is Teflon.
What is better a 2-ferrule tube fitting or a 1-ferrule?
I work in this industry. There is really no difference, it all depends on what the end user wants. Someone may tell you that a double ferrule system gives you better leak protection, but it doesn't, it is all about preference. Just a tidbit of info: Many people who know about tube fittings think that swagelok started the industry standard, but tylok's founder, actually was the inventor of the flareless fitting.
What is the relationship between boilup ratio and number of contact stages?
The boilup ratio will help determine the bottom operating line of your column. Once you have both your bottom and top operating lines you can step off the number of stages (given the desired compositions at the top and bottom of your column).
What are arguments of DNA fingerprinting?
that is is good because it can solve many murders and serve justice to those
bad because it may be used to discriminate against people with inferior genetics.
Why do you use a 400 series stainless steel?
Unlike the 300 series stainless 400 series stainless can be hardened by heat giving moderate corrosion resistance with more durability than 300 series stainless. It is commonly used in pump shafts for equipment requiring a higher torque spec than 316 SS can provide
What is the thermal diffusivity of polypropylene?
Thermal diffusivity is the density divided by the specific heat of a substance. The TD of polypropylene is around 0.096 meters squared per second.
The Graetz number is {(Diameter/Length)*Reynolds#*Prandtl#}^(1/3)
It is used to characterize the thermal development of pipe flow: if the Graetz number is less than 1000, the thermal profile is fully developed.
What subjects at A-level do you study if you want to study civil engineering at university?
Maths is a must. Physics is also a very good idea since engineering in general deals with the weights, lengths and its effects etc.
What makes an electric arc furnace electrode break?
Electrode are some times broken due to: -
1) Electrodes making contact with a none metallic object as they are being hard pressed and ultimately broken. Electronic instruments are available to find this condition and take corrective measures to avert breakage of electrodes.
2) Scrap falling against the electrode(also known as scrap cave-in or collapse)
Above conditions are applicable for EAF
3) Electrode breaking at joints due to incorrect jointing (Not having the correct torque applied to the sections being jointed)
4) Rough handling prior to being used (While being moved or stored)
5) If thermosetting thead lock are missing due to some reason or other, the same mishap may happen.
6) Thread may have some entrapped external material which in turn damage the thread while torquing.
7) If phase sequence is not correct, electrode will be loosened from the joint and may fall in the molten metal.

What is the operational temperature and pressure of deethanizer?
Usually conventional Deethanizers operates around 26-30 bar and 40 deg C.
Why is phenol formaldehyde used?
Phenol formaldehyde adhesives are generally hot press adhesives used extensively in the manufacture of plywood and other wood products such as flakeboard, oriented strand board and laminated veneer lumber. The reason it dominates this market is its relatively low cost, ability to achieve high quality bonds rapidly with the application of heat, and for its durability that equals or exceeds wood, when exposed to severe service environments.
