Absolutely NOT!! They are two entirely different frames and two entirely different cars. The Impala is a full size car while the Chevelle is a mid size car. You CAN use a frame from the other GM A bodies from '66 and '67 with the same body style (coupe, sedan, convertible, etc.) so a frame from a Buick Skylark, Oldsmobile Cutlass or Pontiac Tempest/Lemans will work with VERY little modification, if any. The only thing you would need to change is the motor mounts. Everything else is completely interchangeable.

The way to determine the engine size, horsepower rating, and transmission mounted to it is the engine suffix code stamped on the block in front of the passenger side cylinder head. It is a three letter code. For example, an LS6 454 with a 4 speed transmission will have an engine suffix code of CRV. The VIN code will only tell you if the car had a V8 or L6 installed from the factory, but it won't tell you WHICH V8 or L6 was installed.

Unplug the wiring harness from the steering column. Remove the cover plate under the column. Remove shift linkage. Remove two bolts under the dash that hold the column up. Remove the two nuts that connect the column to the steering knuckle. Slide it out.

The standard transmission in a 1969 Chevelle is a 3 speed manual. A 2 speed automatic, 3 speed automatic, and 4 speed manual were optional.

It depends on what year it was made, and what it was installed in. Chevrolet never made a high performance 400 small block. They used the 396/402 for high performance applications. The small block 400 was typically installed in heavy cars like station wagons.

I want to say that it was around $4,500 dollars give or take. My dads Chevelle Convertible came to a total of $3,397 when it came off the production line so with it being a Super Sport and an LS6 car which they only made around 980 of. Hope that helps a little.
