1975 corvette headlights won't go down?
Engine must be running when you turn the light off- lights are operated from a vacuum system.
There is also an "override" switch located at the base of the steering column. If this switch has been activated- then your lights will not go down.
This switch was provided by G.M. for Vettes being outside in freezing temperatures. G.M. advised that the "override" switch be activated and the headlights would remain in their upright position on these cold nights.
Switch is activated by pulling down or pushing up.
How do you replace a lost 1986 corvette ignition key?
The key looks like it has a chip on it, but it is a resistor. Use an ohm meter and read the resistance by touching one lead of the meter on each side of the resistor. There are keys for sale on E-bay and the resistance will determine what code key you need. Take the blank key and have it cut using your existing key and you are ready to go. If you don't have an existing key, you will have to replace the ignition cylinder.

Does the 98 Corvette use regular fuel?
NO! In cases of emergency you can use 87 to get to the next gas station but using the fuel often will damage your engine, especially the #7 cylinder. This is information taken straight from one of the C5 Corvette's engineers. The vehicle is designed for premium fuel (91 or 93 octane, depending on where you live).
Did the 1995 Corvette come with REMOTE keyless entry?
Yes, And if you need one they are $180.00 at your GM dealer.
Remove battery from 84 Corvette?
The battery on an 84 is located just ahead of the driver's door, under the hood. Step 1 is to disconnect the battery. Make sure you start with the ground cable before you disconnect the positive side or you could end up with a nasty (shocking!) surprise and end up hurting yourself and your Corvette. Here's where it gets fun. You are actually going to remove that section of fender (rocker panel) that sits next to the battery. At the bottom of this panel are some bolts that take a 7mm wrench. Remove the first two, then open the door and there are some small Torx head screws. Remove the first two because these are the ones actually holding the panel. At the top rear of the panel (behind the top of the battery), remove the top bolt with a 10mm wrench. Now go to the inner fender and remove all the Torx head bolts. Once these are done, you can pull the panel out and loosen the rear panel bolt. Remove the panel (don't sit it paint side down!). Now remove the battery hold down apparatus, and remove the battery. TA-DAAAA!
What is wrong when your 2001 corvette Steering column lock signal comes On?
If you have a 6 speed and the steering wheel is unlocked then the only problem is you have to reset the message everytime. Assuming you had the dealer remove the lock pin in the column during the recall. Automatic Vette models is another problem where the steering could lock up.

How do you know when the master cylinder on a 1969 Corvette is bad?
There are typically two indicators of a faulty master cylinder:
1. you press on the pedal and it goes straight to the floor. If you have fluid, you're not leaking at the wheel cylinders and you have bled the air from the line... it's a master cylinder.
2. You press on the pedal, have some brakes then the pedal fades to the floor.
In either case, it's the master cylinder.
Of course, if it's leaking or sucking air and sending up bubbles into the reservoir when a friend presses the pedal... that too. Every time you press the pedal there should be a little "swirl" of brake fluid in the reservoir, but there should never be bubbles.

How do you put together steering column of 19 77 Chevy Corvette?
1. Go to Library and get "Motors Repair Book" that covers 1977 vehicles. It gives step by step instruction. If you want to reference a bigger diagram go to Mamotorworks.com site as they along with Wilcox Corvette, INC have "blown up" diagrams of how the parts fit together. Another good resource for the steering column is "Chilton Repair Manual" that covers the 1974 thru 19?? vehicles. Hope this helps. I've got a '77 whose horn refuses to beep. There is no relative movement between the horn button and the steeringwheel. I'm waiting for the temp to go to +60 degrees before I start taking the horn steering column apart.
