Idle speed is computer controlled. It is not adjustable. It can vary from 550-1200 rpm.

For a maintenance free battery, you need an automatic charger, I recommend one that has a switch for gel batteries as they tend to be more gentle in 'gel' mode, also use the slowest trickle charge option. Also look for the feature 'maintenance mode' or float charging, as these really help the battery.

You just plug in overnight, and can turn off at your leisure with these types, and usually have a light so you know for sure they are ready.

The idea is to reduce the internal gassing of the battery, which in a maintenance free battery, you cant top up the water, so you need to be much more careful.

Alarm is set and I need to get it of to start the car via cables. help George We have a 96 Land Cruiser. The battery went dead and we dealt with the same problem when trying to recharge the battery. We discovered a toggle switch on the drivers side under the dash below the hood latch and gas levers. Flip that switch and you should be good to go. Apparently it resets the alarm.

The expansion valve is located inside the accumulator/dryer. It does not have a separate expansion valve like other cars. The PT Cruiser is classified by Chrysler as a Truck (probably because it gets such poor gas mileage - 18mpg city for a 4 cylinder), not a car. Trucks usually have an accumulator or a liquid line. If you believe the problem to be an expansion valve, replace the dryer.

A failed switch is a common cause.

I had the same problem with my 2002 PT a while back. It is caused by something faulty in the turn signal mechanism. After so many uses there is something that wears out, the easiest solution is to find the fuse that powers your fog lights and take it out. That's what I did after getting stuck with a drained battery because the fog lights stayed on all day while I was at work! Hope this helps

The only fusible link is for the alternator. It is at the positive battery cable.

The oxygen sensor is located just upstream from the catalytic converter. Crawl under the vehicle, and locate the catalytic converter, after the exhaust manifold and before the muffler. There should be a four wire sensor there.

Chrysler does not use inertia/reset switches. If the fuel pump has failed it needs replaced.

It is part of the fuel pump module, inside the fuel tank.

If your owners manual is still with your Cruiser, check in it. It will state what type of oil to use.

My Limited 2002 PT has leather and heated seats, sun roof and a very nice leather covered hand fitting gear shift as well as a leather covered steering wheel. I have test driven others with cloth interiors and a round knob for a gear shift, not as nice.
