What causes a 2005 pt cruiser to squeal How do you fix it?
That depends on how, when and where it is squealing. For example, if the brakes squeal when applied, the brake pads are probably worn down. A squeal from the engine compartment whenever the engine is running could be a loose serpentine belt (especially if the squeal changes a little when you rev the engine).
Where is the crankshaft position sensor on a 2005 Chrysler PT cruiser?
In the front under the starter
you have to get to it from under the car
Trouble code P0480 means: Low Speed (No. 1) Fan Relay Control Circuit
03 pt cruiser engine code p0440 comes on once a month?
Trouble code P0440 means:Evaporative emission control system malfunction
Will a 2005 PT Cruiser engine work in a 2001 PT Cruiser 2.4?
No, the crank sensor tone ring is different. It will not start.
How to remove the headlight lens covers on a 2003 PT Cruiser?
The lenses are not removable from the headlights. They are one assembly.
How much does it cost to change a starter in a 2003 PT Cruiser?
Starter is $102 at Advance Auto Part. Changing it is easy, but cumbersome to get to. Remove the battery, air intake cover, air intake box, and battery tray. Jack the car up on the drivers side so you can reach the underside bolt on the starter. Unbolt the wires on the starter and then proceed to take out the bolt on the underside of the starter. Then unbolt the top bolt. Starter will come out the top with a little force. Installation is opposite of removal. Don't forget to hook your ground wires back up!!
Do this yourself and save money. Shop would probably charge you around $250-$300 to do this hour long job.
Check to make sure that the doors are shut completely.
Does the Chrysler PT Cruiser come as a 4 wheel drive?
No, front wheel drive only.
No, front wheel drive only.
Is maintenance for a Chrysler pt cruiser reasonable?
The powertrain in the PT cruiser is actually pretty stout. The 2.4 I-4 engine requires minimal maintenance. The newer engines come with 100,000 mile spark plugs even. Aside from the basic fluid changes, air filter, fuel filter, etc. the only additional item is the timing belt. I've seen these cars make it 100,000 miles plus on the original belt, but you'll want to have it changed closer to every 60-80,000 to prevent a towing bill. Overall this is one of the simplest most inexpensive engines they used. It's not a powerhouse by any means, but it doesn't take much to keep it in good working order.
The 4 speed transmission in these was also used in the sebring, stratus, neon...basically all their small 4 cylinder cars. Other than a few leaks I encountered from the cooler lines they are basically problem free. There is a recommended interval for fluid changes on the transmission, but to be honest it isn't always necessary. Monitor the level and condition of the fluid and change it if it begins to darken. Alot of these cars go their whole lifespan on the same transmission fluid without any problems. It all depends on your driving style.
Mine's doing the same thing, but it is sticking and will sometimes stick till I pull the horn bezel back out by hand. I can't figure out how to get the dang thing off either, so I can see what's causing it.
What is the fuel pressure for a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
As far as I can tell from all of my reading today, it is 58psi +-5psi
yes it does
Where is the battery located on a 2003 PT cruiser?
It's underneath the air filter housing on the front right hand side of the engine bay (that's right as you face the car from the front).
It's a big black plastic box with large air hose connected to it.
To get access to the battery - for example, to remove it - you will first need to take out the air filter housing. This is not a difficult job, but it adds a little time and effort to replacing a battery, for instance. If you just want to make a temporary connection to the battery, jump-start connectors are provided behind the filter and close to the hood latch.
(A lot of jobs are more than usually complicated on the Cruiser, simply because the deisgners had to "fold things up" to get the Nova engine into the space... After all, this is the car that makes you take the engine intake manifold off, to change the plugs!)
Where is the oil filter on a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
On the 2.4L it is on the back side of the oil pan.
Can a 2001 Chrysler pt cruiser engine be damaged if the timing belt breaks?
Yes it can. The tolerances on today's engines are very close. As the valves open and close they project into the path of the pistons and are barely clear of the piston as it compresses the gases at the top of the cylinder. The timing belt is the part that keeps all this happening at incredibally fast rotations so if the timing belt breaks, the piston can and probably will, hit an extended (or open) valve and bend the valve stem. it will probably happen to at least three of the valves. If that happens you are going to need some major work and expense to correct tha damage. So... if you are close to or over the manufacturers recommended interval which is 100,000 miles you may want to get it changed as soon as you can.
