How do you set the cigar humidor up properly?

Assuming your humidor has a capacity of between 40 and 80, the first thing you need to do is throw the instructions away. Remove the hygrometer and what ever device they supplied to create humidity, and throw them away. You are now on your way to smoking more, and being frustrated less.

Buy a combination digital thermometer/hygrometer. Buy a couple of jars of humidification jell (or beads). they release the humidity at a specified rate. I keep the cap off of one and should the digital gauge indicate the levels getting low I remove the other cap. Some times of the year you might be capping both jars. You will find the level where cigars smoke the best. The ideal combo is 70/70. 70% humidity and 70 degrees F. You will learn that humidity levels will fluctuate based on the temp. Since the temp is usually something you cannot control, (you would not lower the temp in your entire home to 70 degrees when your normal summer setting is 76 degrees) you only need to know this: as the temp rises, so will your humidity. So, if your temp is 76 , 70% will be too much humidity.

Do not rub the inside of the humidor with water. Allow the jars to work inside your humidor for at least a week before putting cigars in it. 2 weeks is better. Only use distilled water to refill the jars. Don't store the humidor where it can receive direct sunlight. Inside a cabinet or closet is best. Do not store "flavored" and regular cigars in the same humidor. Don't buy a box of anything until you know you like it. Buy samplers. My last bit of advice - There is no such thing as a one dollar cigar... life is too short. Only buy the ones you enjoy.

The latest research on the effects of marijuana on lung cancer shows that marijuana smokers actually have lower rates of lung cancer than people do not smoke pot. It seems to provide a protective effect. This research was done by Dr. Donald Tashkin of UCLA, the leading expert on the topic.

Every major government commission report on marijuana in the last 100 years has concluded that marijuana is not a serious threat to either individual or public health. You can read the full text of these reports at Major Studies of Drugs and Drug Policy - http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/Library/studies/studies.htm

The largest study of the health effects was done by Kaiser Permanente. They surveyed the health records of 65,000 patients over a number of years. They found no significant differences between the health records of pot smokers and people who did not smoke pot. see http://www.druglibrary.org/crl/aging/sidney-01.html

The World Health Organization studied the comparison between alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana in health effects. They concluded that marijuana is safer than either alcohol or tobacco by a wide margin. See

A Comparative Appraisal of the Health and Psychological Consequences of Alcohol, Cannabis, Nicotine and Opiate Use - http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/hemp/general/who-index.htm

The number of deaths produced by tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana in the US in a typical year is as follows:

Tobacco - about 400,000

Alcohol - about 100,000

Acetimenophen (Tylenol) - about 2,000

Marijuana -- no recorded deaths in history.

See How many people are killed by drugs?

http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/library/basicfax3.htm

(These facts are always skewed in such a manner than pot can never be included. The studies only show deaths directly related to the substance. i.e. alcohol poisoning, overdose of pills. But the indirect deaths caused by pot are actually much greater than Tylenol.)

Studies even show that due to marijuana's ability to clear the lungs of smog, pollutants, and cigarette smoke, it may actually reduce your risk of emphysema, bronchitis, and lung cancer. Smokers of cannabis have been shown to outlive non-smokers in some areas by up to two years. Medium to heavy tobacco smokers will live seven to ten years longer if they also

smoke marijuana.

Pot messes up your brain. Cigarettes mess up your lungs. Cigarettes are addicting and considered worse. Pot is at least naturally grown, less damaging.

AnswerBoth marijuana and tobacco can cause lung damage, and marijuana also puts THC in your system, which remains there for several years even if you quit smoking it. There are 599 different additives that are legal to put in cigarettes, some of which can kill. See the links below for more information.

How many chemicals in cigarettes and cigars are known or suspected to cause cancer?

Approximately 43 known cancer causing elements can be found in cigarettes.

Pesticides, heavy-alloy-metals and chemicals contain a lot of different cancer causing substances.

****

As a scientist, you have to ask how did these 'nasties' get into cigarettes.

Now pesticides are not only used on tobacco, they are used on the plants we eat. (Pesticides made from tobacco are approved for organic farming!)

Heavy metals (not alloys!), like cadmium, mercury, lead, polonium-210 and arsenic, occur naturally and are absorbed by ALL plants from the earth and atmosphere.

Many are produced in the combustion but they are also produced when you throw another log on the fire, fire up the gas or oil-fired central heating, have a BBQ, light a candle, etc.

Some are tobacco specific but very little research, if any, on those specific to apples, carrots, etc has been performed.

The vast majority of additives to tobacco are approved additives to foods and drinks.

A study found 19 carcinogens in a cup of coffee - without the state of the art equipment and billions of dollars of funding that Tobacco Control has.

Either all those nasties in Tobacco are deliberate scaremongering propaganda or we're ALL doomed!

What is the difference between Djarum flavored cigarettes and Djarum filtered cigars?

Djarum and other brands of clove cigarettes are made with a mix of 40% clove (yes, just like the spice in your kitchen) and 60% tobacco. The tobacco is natural, meaning without added toxic chemicals (such as Ammmonia or Arsenic) that are in major-brand cigarettes, but even natural tobacco still contains nicotine and tar. The nicotine is still addictive. Djarum cloves do have filters unlike some clove brands. Cloves taste better than regular cigarettes. They also contain a mild anesthetic which slightly numbs the lips and throat while smoking. This effect can be particularly soothing for those with new tongue or lip piercings. Clove smoke smells a lot like incense. Clove smoking habits mimic cigar and pipe smokers, compared to regular smokers.
