What are the two most common ways to become a US citizen?

You can become a citizen by living in the US for 5 years, (only 3 if married to a US citizen)

You can also file an application of intention to the INS pay money, and do all this complicated stuff. Then you're good.

What are the Advantages and disadvantages of being a citizen of both the US and the state you live?

Advantages are that you can now vote, run for political office, diplomatic help/protection when traveling overseas, ability to apply for sensitive jobs (government, police, teacher, etc...) and as a citizen, you cant be deported to your country of origin.

Disadvantage are that some countries dont allow dual nationality and will cancel your original citizenship (with the loss of whatever rights that country grants their own citizens) and that in some parts of the world, knowledge of your citizenship status might make you a decapitation target.

Please note that both citizens AND green card holders are required to pay taxes on their worldwide income.

How does a non US resident get the citizenship of US?

Why do you think new immigrants to the US are required to take a test before they can become US citizens?

The US Citizenship test is primarily to test the applicant's knowledge regarding the Country's ancient history, constitution and its Government. Since English is the common language in the US, this also tests the fluency of the applicants to speak, read and write basic English. Immigrants who want to become US citizens should be well aware of the country's history and should not have any difficulty in speaking the native language. In this aspect, the citizenship test is compulsory.

Does a legal resident become a citizen if married to a citizen?

Since you don't say which country you're specifically interested in, it is impossible to get an accurate answer. In some countries, if you marry you will become a citizen while in others, such as the USA, Canada or Australia for example, marriage does not automatically get you citizenship, If you're a legal resident, you will normally become eligible for citizenship after a certain period of time...the length of time being dependent on the country in which you are a legal resident...subject to meeting certain residency requirements (i.e. the amount of time physically spent in that country since becoming a legal resident) and normally a citizenship test of some sort. What types of jobs to illegal immigrants have?

Illegal immigrants can have any job, but most illegal immigrants have very little education so they tend to go for low income or harsh jobs. Some common jobs are in the Construction, Dairy, Mechanic, Fast food, Farming, Gardening, Janitor, and more.

Jobs that most Americans won't do (although they claim they will, but few do) will usually be occupied by illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants with a high education (Bachelors, Associates... etc) will have a hard time finding a job without papers, so they usually have to do jobs way below their educational level.

Where do you go to take your citizenship test in Georgia US?

Please go to http://www.uscitizenship.info for more information about forms. The site doesn't tell you where the testing would be held. Instead please call a toll free number 1-800-870-3676. I got this number from on the representatives of USCIS. It's an automated phone service that you can place orders for forms to fill out. It would take 5 to 10 business days to deliver. Request form N-600 to get a Certificate of Citizenship. Don't bother trying making other phone calls...I tried and it would get you no where. Wait for the form and fill it out...send it off...then be patient. :0)

Why shouldn't your tax dollars be used on illegal immigrants?

Tax dollars should not be used for illegal aliens because it is not matter of choice by the electorate. We WANT legal immigrants of good character and wanting to contribute and improve their own situations, but illegals mock the law by their very mode of entry, so why should we expect better from them later.

We want and need immigrants. Most of us are from immigrants . But laws MUST be obeyed. My Grandfather waited patiently 11 years to immigrate legally from Germany between the world wars. And expected nothing but an opportunity to work when he got here, not a plateful of unearned government benefits.
