How do you fix a broken reed for clarinet?

It depends what has actually happened to it. If the cane has fallen off the staple then I'm afraid you can't do anything but make a new one but if it just doesn't blow you can scrape it with a reed knife and widen it up and keep going til it works. If this still doesn't work, look for a local oboist in your area.

Can you use a sax reed for a clarinet?

Well yes and no. When you finger a note on alto and tenor the notes in the relative key (Bb for tenor and Eb for alto) are fingered the same way. So a C on an alto and a C on a tenor are fingered the same way, but sound different. On tenor it's a concert Bb, when on alto it's a concert Eb. But for fingering purposes and just generally learning the instrument, yes.

Was Artie Shaw's number 1 hit song in 1939 'They Say'?

Good question. Shaw made 'Begin the Beguine' in 1938 and then went into seclusion, supposedly because he was not able to handle the publicity that went along with making a hit record. He recorded a song called 'Frenesi' in 1940 that was pretty popular. But as far as 1939 is concerned, I don't know of any hits he made. I just found it! Answer is "They Say." It's not the bass clarinet.

The octocontrabass clarinet (also known as octo contrabass clarinet, octo contra bass clarinet, or subcontra bass clarinet) is the largest and lowest member of the clarinet family. It is pitched an octave below the contrabass clarinet, or three octaves lower than the standard B♭ soprano clarinet.

The Guinness Book of World Records lists the octocontrabass clarinet as having the lowest range of any orchestral instrument, capable of playing B♭-1 concert pitch (the B♭ below the lowest note of the piano).

How much is a buffet crampon clarinet with serial number 118704 worth?

The value of a clarinet depends on its condition. I suggest taking it to a dealer or instrument repair technician to get an evaluation. Some of the things to consider is the condition of the pads and corks, how well the instrument has been care for, how worn the keys are, is the action of the keys good for starters.

What does a clarinet reed do?

it makes it so it doesnt squeek

_____________________________________

Incorrect! The reed will MAKE the instrument squeak if played incorrectly. The reed vibrates very fast on the instrument, which creates the sound. You cannot play a woodwind instrument without the reed (if the instrument requires a reed).I play flute so i wouldn't know much-but this is what i know:The instuments that require a reed are saxaphones and clarinets have one reed the bassoon and the oboe have an double reed.It is not true that it doesnt manke it squek because the reed is what makes it squeak! But the reeds purpose is to make the noes come out,and its where your mouth goes!

The unique sound quality of a clarinet or a violin is caused by the?

The unique souNd is caused by the reed and the material of which the clarinet is made. This is why a wooden clarinet sounds nicer and tends to resonate more than a plastic one and that is why all professional clarinetists use wooden not plastic clarinets.

What is the trick to playing the clarinet well?

hey, its simple after awhile, when people hear me playing they ask me if i waz born with a clarinet in my hands. all u need to do is devote about two hours a day, six days a week for awhile, of just practicing outside of school. i mean I've been doing this and in the 6th grade i was put in the freshman jazz band which was loads of fun, so just do that and you'll go pro

i also play the clarinet and like the persons answer above, you really have to devote time every now and then to get a good tone. I was in the honors band festival for 8th grade and it is for the best of the best. That just goes to show what practice can do for anybody :) for some like me it will come natural though..just put effort and time and you will be successful
