What causes color blindness?

This trait is carried on the X chromosome and is a recessive trait so that only men can get it but it is carried by women.

Color blindness is caused entirely by hereditary traits. So in a nutshell, you can't naturally "get" color blindness during your lifetime, unless if you remove your "cones." However, if you are a male carrier of the colorblind trait, your chances of being born color blind are higher than if you are a female carrier.

Color blindness most often happens because of a genetic disorder. This happens when a section of DNA is copied incorrectly from parent to offspring.

Colorblindness is caused by three cones in the back of the eye.Three different colors. If these cones are not working properly, then you have trouble telling the difference between different colors.Ex.blue and purple.
You become colorblind when the cones in your eye bend or misshape and stop working
Most color blindness is caused by an inherited genetic defect where the functioning of the color receptive cones in the retina is deficient - or where the cones are absent altogether. It is most commonly inherited from mutations on the X chromosome. There are different genetic defects that cause different types of color blindness. Some manifest at birth, while others are progressive, i.e. persons with some defects gradually lose their ability to distinguish some or all colors. Because males have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome while females have two X chromosomes, males are at greater risk for having color blindness. If a woman inherits a normal X chromosome in addition to the one that carries the mutation, she will not display the mutation. Men do not have a second X chromosome to override the chromosome that carries the mutation.

How do you know if you are color blind?

I actually am color blind. And I found out that I was color blind a long time ago when I looked in a book. There was a color blind test on one of the pages. It looked like a whiligig that to people that aren't color blind would say that there are red dots making up the picture. All that I saw was a picture made up of dots, but no color. I always thought that your eyes weren't supposed to see colors. Now I know that I am color blind.

Frequently from historical times all the way to present day such things have been personified and very often related to living creatures. Stars, for instance, were often related to divine beings or angels. Blindness is firstly a physical condition that afflicts living creatures that otherwise would have an ability to see, but is frequently used allegorically to refer to delusional state, or insanity. If they have a varied coat pattern, it is possible that they can carry what is known as the merle gene, which can lead to blindness and deafness. Expert breeders know how to test for this- if a goldendoodle puppy is found to be carrying this horrible genetic trait and to be deafblind, it is probably kinder to have him or her put to sleep. But in the case of dogs with non-varied coat patterns, no they aren't.

How do you get Tritanopia?

First to define Tritanopia.....A visual defect characterized by the inability to discern blue and yellow Most people do not get Tritanopia. It is usually caused by a genetic defect. People affected by tritanopia are dichromats. This means the S-cones are completely missing and only long- and medium-wavelength cones are present. There have been some instances where individuals have reported symptoms consistant with Tritanopia after being struck violently in the front or back of the head. Also, there seems to be a slightly higher rate of Tritanopia associated with alcoholics. Tritanopia is by chance either inherited by subdominance, or due to possible nerve damage.
