Communism

In what has become known as Communism there is one political party that has absolute sway over all decisions made. there is no accountability to the the public. In the system that is used by European country's there is an understanding that the people of a country won it and should be able to benefit from its success after all they are expected to look after it's security in times of war and peace. Keeping this in mind the wealth that is generated within one of these country's has to contribute to the well being of the people of the country not just the power and wealth of those that have managed to organise this wealth using the country's infrastructure. this is overseen by a democratic system where the leadership and laws of the country can swing this way or that as the people see fit not just as the political masers see fit. The average health and life span of the people in these country's is better then in country's that do not use this system so there must be something to it.

There is nothing 'wrong' with Communism. The thing is that most Westerners get the misconception that Communism is bad. This is because during the Cold War in an effort to get support against the USSR and Communism the US used wildly incorrect propaganda which made most people think Communism=Tyranny, which isn't the case. Take it from me, I lived in the Soviet Union, visited Cuba and China, and I wasn't oppressed, nor did I ever see anyone around me be a victim of 'tyranny'. Its all propaganda.

There have been tyrants in capitalism. South American countries and South Eastern Asian countries (who are still all LECDs), Africa and Middle East have non-democratic capitalism.

Communism: a classless stateless society based on production for use and democratic control. Clearly it does not exist in Asia or anywhere else. North Korea is state capitalist, China is a mix of state and private capitalism.

Dictatorship is a when one man rules everything, there is no other form of authority except that one person. If you defy their rules, you die or get exiled. They usually gain power forcefully or because they were voted for, but the people didn't know of the plans.

Communism on the other hand is like a dictatorship, but it's a government party that controls everything, from properties to what kind of business you own. They are also less brutal than dictators.

Most of Eastern Europe was occupied by Soviet Russia after the Second World War. They then set up puppet governments in those countries.

(You can argue about if the Soviets in the 1940's-1990's were actually Communists or not else where)

Inside Communism the government owns all property which allows the specific country to be very stable in the economic factor. However, because the government owns everything then they have to decide the opportunity cost. (Guns or butter?) Should they make more food and have less security or more security and less food? Also, because the government is in complete control it can be taken advantage of by one man i.e. Hitler or Stalin.

Since the threat of a fifth column Communist movement in the US existed mostly in the fevered brain and imagination of Sen. Joseph McCarthy. there was very little real Communism to hunt in the US at all. Congress members mostly cowered in the face of his violent rantings and initial popularity. They mostly went along with his 'Commie hunt" and willingly provided members for his House Committee on Un-American Activities.

It was finally - after some 10 years - not any level-headed thinking of Congress, but the Supreme Court with its decisions that meant the end of McCarthyism and persecution and blacklisting of liberals. In its heyday, the only prominent political figure to actively oppose McCarthy's actions and thoughts was President Truman, but he was unable to stem the tide.

You had a lot of people in power for example Senator Joseph McCarthy who would go to congress and tell people that the communists were everywhere and eventually the red scare would begin, McCarthy would famously go to congress and say "I have 200 names of communists in our state department" then when a reporter asked him how many he decreased the number to 150, and then by the end of the day it was 50 communists. But many people where still afraid so they begin trials where communists were rounded up and arrested and thrown into prisons, then the government realized that the media and Hollywood had the most power to influence the population so they began asking people in Hollywood if they new communists etc...
