Who tutored Mozart?

Mozart was a child prodigy who taught himself to compose. He had already composed several smaller compositions and his first symphony by the age of eight. He was also influenced by the work of composer Johann Christian Bach, who befriended Mozart as a child in London in 1764-5, and no doubt taught him some finer points regarding composition. Mozart became friends later with Josef Haydn, and each had some influence upon the other's musical style.

How old was Ludwig Van Beethoven when he went completely deaf?

He could not hear music, in the sense that persons with normal hearing could. He devised a wooden rod that he would attach to the soundboard of the piano, then clench the other end between his teeth - that done, he could feel the vibrations in this head and could hear the music.

It has been said that he could hear normal talking conversations though.

Why did Beethoven not want others to know he was deaf?

The composer Beethoven did not cut off his ears. The painter, Vincent Van Gogh did cut off part of one of his ears. The story goes that on the evening of 23 December 1888, Van Gogh cut off the lower half of his left ear and took it to a brothel, where he presented it to a prostitute friend. The reason for this unusual behaviour has been theorised upon by many; the most likely cause was that it was the result of an argument with his painter friend Paul Gauguin, although that does not explain his bizarre behaviour.

Why is Peter Tchaikovsky important?

Tchaikowsky elevated the ballet to a new musical prominence, and subsequently influenced composers such as Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev. His manner of telling the story through a solo and then almost "exploding" into furious orchestration was a style that influenced Stravinsky.

Where did Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart start being a musican?

Mozart came from a very musically-inclined family. His father Leopold was Vice-Kappellmeister (concert master) to the court in Salzburg, and it was natural that he would raise his two surviving children to play and compose music as well. Both children were talented musicians, but Wolfgang's older sister, Nannerl, was discouraged from utilising her creative talents.

Leopold trained his son intensively in playing both the violin and klavier/piano right from the time his son was a toddler, and he actively pursued opportunities to show off his son's talents. Young Wolfgang Amadeus was paraded as a "wunderkind", a wonder-child or prodigy, and being so young (and somewhat small in stature, due in part to frequent illnesses) he was received with great favour at the courts of the nobility and aristocrats.

Until the 19th century music was considered to be a trade rather than an artistic calling and was simply handed on from father to son, so most composers born before about 1800 had parents or other close relatives who were musicians (eg Bach, Mozart and Beethoven). One of Mozart's two surviving sons also became a composer, although he wasn't famous.

What is different from the movements of Beethoven symphony with the movements of Haydn and Mozart symphonies?

This is a very good question to ask. Someone at one point or another has asked what the difference is between these two composers. Well I think I can help you out with this. For one, Mozart is very radical and out there. He would have been the Trent Reznor of his time, whereas Beethoven would have been the Justin Timberlake of his time. Mozart is very spontaneous and outspoken. _____ Beethoven's music was considered to be radical and he was accused of endangering the morals of young women by arousing their passions with his music. Beethoven also had the advantage of the recently invented pianoforte. The movies "Amadeus" and "Immortal Beloved" might give an insight into both of these classical heavyweights.

What year was beethoven's music composed?

Beethoven began composing during the latter part of the Classical period, and he provided the transition into the early phase of the Romantic period.

How were Beethoven and Mozart similar and connected?

They were both composers during the Classical era, and both were symbolic of that era. At one point, Beethoven was travelling to Vienna to meet Mozart, who was fourteen years older than Beethoven, but was forced to return home after his mother was taken-ill. If the two had met then there's no way of knowing what the two could have achieved.
