Tcp ipv6 urgent help please asap?

i was messing with my router settings because my xbox live wouldn't connect.

on my ipv6 menu there was like 6 choices.

---automatically obtain ip address

---use the following ipv6 address

-subnet prefix length

-default gateway

-obtain dns server automtaically

-use the following dns server addresses

-preferred dns server

-alternate dns server

before i messed with it, it had manual settings and it had ip's.

but i changed the choice to automatically obtain ipv6 address and the dns server.

What does power management in bios setup program mean?

Nowadays electronics uses advanced power control, it means that if it is not in use, it will not take as much electricity as when you are using it. It's especially important for laptops. For instance, many processors can adjust it's frequency depending on load. It means when you are watching movie the CPU is used 100%, but when you are reading news or you went away for some time CPU reduces its frequency sometimes as much as two times which allows to save a lot of battery energy.

When you turn on your computer which uses Vista it takes you to a black screen with only your mouse on it you tried everything what should you do?

You have software problems. You need to start your computer in the Safe Mode (if it works). For that you need to press F8 after the post screen. Choose "Safe Mode", after you computer starts you need to uninstall software which causes problems. Check msconfig: Run->msconfig->Startup. Also you can use the option "Load last successful version" which is much easier to use because it's automatic, but sometimes it does not work.

Your computer is denying you access to automatic updates How can you fix this?

There are several things that could be causing it. One of the most common is that you have a virus on the computer that is blocking you access to automatic updates. Another common one is where you have an illegal copy of windows on your computer. That will also block you from some updates that are not labeled "Critical" by Microsoft. It can also be caused by a corrupted registry. To fix the virus problem I would suggest downloading the free program Clamwin http://www.clamwin.com and running a virus scan with it. Although if you know how to do it a reload would be a better option. If you have a pirated version of windows the only way to get updates is to buy a copy of windows and install it. The corrupted registry one, although it isn't as common can be fixed by a tool called Dial-a-Fix. http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Dial-a-fix.shtml

Why are Power supplys for laptops 19v instead of 12v?

This is due to the fact that the Li-ion needs to be charged while the computer is running. The charger will input a higher voltage to charge the battery while the 19v is pushed through a buck converter on the motherboard that outputs a regulated 12v to power the motherboard. This is neccessary to efficiently charge you laptop battery.

The cable is probably damaged, or the idiot just plugged it in backwards. He should first attempt to plug the cable in upside-right. If that fails, he should then try a different floppy cable.

You stepped on your laptop and the screen broke inside and there is black stuff around the crack The outside is not broken so the black stuff is not exposed but could it still cause mercury poisoning?

You don't have to freak out about mercury poisoning, I'm not saying that it's GOOD for you but people go off the deep end about some of this stuff. All you have to do just replace your Lcd screen with a new one. Remember to dispose of the old screen properly. In Europe, all electronic equipment must be recycled so avoid tossing the screen in the trash.

Name one way of checking drives for errors?

The main way the check a drive for errors is to use a disk checking utility. You can use CHKDSK or Scandisk for this.

If you are in Windows, you can go to My Computer and right-click on the drive in question and go to Properties. Then go to Tools and there should be a button that says Check Now. You would click that.

You can also use 3rd-party utilities. Your hard drive manufacturer may have a surface test utility, and it can relocate some of the sectors if necessary.

How do you delete a file that your computer says is in use by another person or program?

If the computer is saying that a file is in use, this usually means there is something running in the background that you may not be aware of. Logging into Windows in Safe Mode may allow you to delete the file. Make sure you have written down its complete path. If it is still running inside safe mode and still will not let you delete it, boot the computer into a command line prompt. Here you should be able to trash the file.

Your laptop battery is only a year or two old and it no longer holds a charge?

People who exercise will live longer, so will batteries. Even if you only use your rechargeable battery a few times a year you should recharge it every few months to keep the battery chemistry active. We recommend that you cycle charge the battery by fully discharging the battery and then completely recharging it (repeat this 3-times). This should recondition the battery and bring it back to normal operational status. It is also key to purchase a laptop battery from a reliable manufacturer like mcVolt.

Are mcVolt Li-Ion laptop batteries really better than NiMh and NiCd batteries?

Nickel Cadmium batteries contain Cadmium, a toxic heavy metal, which is harmful to the environment. Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries offer a higher capacity(runtime)per same size(voltage output) than NiCd batteries and mcVolt Litium Ion laptop batteries have a higher capacity than NiMh(those sold by most manufacturers). NiMh batteries are also lighter and have little memory effect compared to their NiCd counterparts. mcVolt Li-ion laptop batteries are light, have a higher capacity and have no memory effect compared to NiMh and NiCd batteries.
