most of the time when somethin like this happens its not a big deal just unplug your printer and keep it up pluged for just a min then plug it back up. just hang out for a second and if you have any pending documents then they will just start printing. if that does not work then restart your computer. and if by a bad luck spell that dont work than you can allways reinstall the printer and that will take care of it for sure.

I replaced my HP 56 cartridge with an HP 21 and it works fine. However, I don't know if that would be the case for all printers. If you cartridge is in good shape, have it refilled at Walgreens. I have had a cartrige refilled three times and it still prints well.
