What is digital data representation?
Digital data is information represented by numbers (digits). All information, no matter how abstract, can be reduced to a single number. And anything that can be represented numerically can be represented in a digital computer; we simply convert the number to its binary (base 2) equivalent.
We use base 2 representations for the simple reason that it is easy to represent opposing states in a machine. If we think of punch cards, either there is a hole in a given position or there is not. If we think of DVDs, either there is pit in a given position or there is not (the absence of a pit is known as a land). If we think of magnetic mediums, either the particles are in the positive phase or the negative phase. Optical readers (such as barcode readers) use black and white stripes or boxes. Even a simple switch can be on or off.
How many bits are there in Mac address?
48-bits. Probably so that there would be enough for every network device to have a worldwide unique address. This 48-bit address space contains potentially 2^48 or 281,474,976,710,656 possible MAC addresses. (2 to the 48th power.)
Which will probably also run out (some day?) like IPv4 is running out and will be supposedly fixed by IPv6 which has a larger address spac
What is called when software is used to simulate the hardware of a physical computer?
This is usually called emulation.
ROM BIOS or firmware chips that can be upgraded without replacing the chips are called?
Read Only Memory(ROM) Basic Input Output System(BIOS) or firmware chips are "Electrically Erasable and Programmable Read Only Memory(EEPROM)" chips, these kind of chips can be upgraded by flashing.
What is Difference between software system architecture and building architecture?
Difference Between Software Architecture and Software Design
Software Architecture focuses more on the interaction between the externally visible components of the system where as the Design is about how the internal components of the system interact with each other.
Software Architecture is more about what we want the system to do and and Design is about how we want to achieve that.
Software architecture is at a higher level of abstraction than the Software Design.
Software Architecture is concerned with issues beyond the data structures and algorithms used in the system.

Output could be thought of as a monitor or printer.
What is information technology and computer science?
Computer science is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation, and of practical techniques for their implementation and application in computer systems.Computer science has many sub-fields; some, such as computer graphics, emphasize the computation of specific results, while others, such as computational complexity theory, study the properties of computational problems. Still others focus on the challenges in implementing computations.
Information science is an interdisciplinary science primarily concerned with the collection, classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval and dissemination of information. Practitioners within the field study the application and usage of knowledge in organizations, along with the interaction between people, organizations and any existing information systems, with the aim of creating, replacing or improving information systems.
Information science is often (mistakenly) considered a branch of computer science. However, it is actually a broad, interdisciplinary field, incorporating not only aspects of computer science, but often diverse fields such as cognitive science, commerce, communications, law, library science, management, mathematics, public policy, and the social sciences.
What part of the computer is used to enter information and instructions into the computer?
Mouse and keyboard are you main input devices, there are others such as webcams and tablets.
What are non-functional requirements and how do they relate to functional requirements?
Functional & Nonfunctional Requirements
• Functional Requirements: Actions that a system must be able to perform without taking physical constraints into considerations.
• Nonfunctional Requirements: Describe the required attribute of the system (performance, security, etc.).
With Use Case
• Use cases place the functional requirements into the context of a user.
• Use case can also be used to capture any nonfunctional requirements that are specific to the use cases.
Misconceptions related to Use Cases
• Use cases are nothing else than capturing functional requirements.
• Nonfunctional requirements are captured apart from the use cases.
How many gigabytes in 6250 megabytes?
1 gigabyte = 1024 megabytes. In order to find out how many gigabytes 2250 megabytes is equal to, we must divide 2250 megabytes by 1024 megabytes ( 2250/1024 ). This way we find that 2250 megabytes = 2.197265625 gigabytes.
How do you install window vista basic on Acer aspire m1640 model?
Download the SATA drivers from the Acer website. Extract the files onto a FLOPPY DISKETTE Open the acer and connect a floppy drive to the motherboard and the power supply (Fortunatly Acer have still left these connectors available) Start to install the Vista on the Acer. When it requires a driver for the CD/DVD player, go and look on the floppy disk. All should then be fine
What refers to interconnected computers?
a term used to describe interconnected computer configuration is
When booting a computer what is the boot priority?
In the system BIOS you can tell the computer to "look at" a drive to boot from first . There you can select to boot from a removable drive, usually a floppy disk or USB flash drive(this option is found on most Linux systems). You can also choose to boot from a CDROM drive or Hard Disc(you hard drives).
This is what all my system say and the ones I repair:
1. Removable Drive -- Usually a floppy drive (an emergency boot disk) is what it is talking about here.
2. CD-ROM Drive -- I have this set at two so I can special disks before I get to the desktop or dashboard(Mac).
3. Hard Disks -- This is your hard drive.
Define byte kilobyte megabyte and gigabyte?
Here is a list of bits and bytes:
Web Browsers are the software programs that provide an interface to explore the Web with the help of the following components.
The following figure displays the Internet Explorer Web browser window.
Toolbar
A Toolbar contains a set of buttons or icons for the community performed tasks in an application.
The Toolbar buttons supported by Web browsers are as follows :
Location Bar
The Location Bar allows the user to specify the address of the website. The user can then press the Enter key to access a particular website. Alternatively, the user can click the Go button on the drop-down list box to access the website.
In addition, the Location Bar contains a list of websites accessed earlier by the user. To access these websites, you need to click the small triangle on the combo box. The Location Bar is also known as the Address Bar in the Internet Explorer.
Menu Bar
The Menu Bar is located on the top of the Toolbar and allows the user to select and customize a series of options in the Web browser window. For example, the user can save the current Web page or enable or disable the images on the Web page.
Access Indicator
The Access Indicator is an image to the right of the Web browser window. This image is animated when a Web page is being downloaded, otherwise it remains static.
Status Bar
The Status Bar is located at the bottom of the Web browser window and specifies the status of the transactions on a Web page. For example, the Status Bar displays the information such as the address of the website, the size of the file and error messages.
Scroll Bar
A Scroll Bar enables you to scroll up and down on a Web page, if the Web page is too long to fit the Web browser window. Similarly, you can scroll right or left on a Web page if the Web page is wider to fit the Web browser window.
In the 21st century, computers can be found almost everywhere... Computer applications support business in many ways: payroll processing, inventory management, accounts payables, etc. Computer applications support engineering in many ways: designing airplanes and cars, designing computers, etc. Computer applications control devices: robots, airplanes, cars, heating and A/C systems, etc. Computer applications support the health profession: MRIs, CAT scans, remote surgery, etc. Anytime you are on the internet, you are using a computer and interacting with a remote computer
4 bytes are enough to represent any integer in a range of approximately -2 billion, to +2 billion.
There are 1024 gigabytes in a terabyte
And 1024 terabytes in a petabyte
So there are 10242 or 1 048 676 gigabytes in 1 petabyte.
Interesting side note: It is said that google processes 20 petabytes of data every day.
Is single core processor will support multi threaded program?
Of course it will run. But it will not be making full utilization of the multi-core architecture. In that aspect, single-core processors with more processing power are sometimes better suited to run single threaded application than multi-core processors with less processing power.
A 'bit' is 1/8 of a dollar or about 12 cents. Two 'bits' is about a quarter.
To get from bytes to KB you divide by 1024.
To get to MB then divide my 1024 again.
So it should be around 57.22MB
I hope this is just a weird coincidence that there is an assignment at a certain University with this exact calculation :p
Types of multimedia application?
There are primarily two types of Multimedia applications (i) Real time and (ii) Non Real time. RT applications are audio/Video Teleconferencing/telephony and NRT applications are audio/video broadcasting etc, internet browsing etc.
