How do you substitute Extra Virgin Olive Oil for Vegetable oil?

Olive oil has a very distinctive taste. Depending on what kind of recipe you are making would depend on if it would be appropriate to use it. I would say definatly not if you are making any kind of dessert. You would be better off using canola oil. It does not have the distinctive taste. If you are using it in a salad dressing, say, you could probably get away with using the olive oil.

Which kind of oil press is better to press oil screw oil press or hydraulic oil press?

hydraulic cause it is quicker and it dosent make a difference any way。 But it has a relative small productivity and need great pressure. So screw press is better in these aspects and will be the main trend of oil press machinery.

Any oil press has its own application scope. If this oil press is used for the right oil seeds, then we can say it is a good one. Hydraulic is more suitable for pressing high oil contant oilseeds likle sesame, alomnd, etc. So in this case, it is a good oil press too.

Is making crisps from cooking oil and potatoes a reversible change or chemical reaction?

Most cooking processes are chemical reactions. Generally, the reactions are non reversible and once cooked, food cannot be returned to an uncooked state. So, frying potatoes causes a non reversible chemical reaction.

The question is not as precise as it might be. Changes can be physical or chemical. They can also be reversible or non reversible but it is important to note that many chemical changes are reversible just as many physical changes are reversible.

How could you find out if cooking oil reduces friction more than water in an experiment?

Put an object (e.g coin) on a board (e.g. a long piece of wood).

Wet the board with enough water to form a continuous layer.

Carefully tilt the board and measure how high one end must be for the object to just start slipping.

It's a good idea to repeat this and work out the average height.

Dry the board and object.

Repeat the process using oil, wuth the same board and object - so it's a fair test.

If the height (needed to make the slipping start) is smaller when using oil, it means the oil reduces friction more than water.

Can butter flavored crisco be a substitute for oleo?

Can castor oil can be used as a cooking oil?

Castor Oil has been used for centuries. However, it has a strong taste and was used as a strong laxative in the past. There are better natural laxatives these days. The flavor of the oil will upset the flavor of what you are cooking and should not be used. Most will find the flavor quite unpleasant. Use olive oil instead when needing an oil for browning meat or stir fry. Use a vegetable oil or butter for baking when called for.

What if your recipe calls for a non stick springform pan but all you have is a metal one Can you us a non-stick spray instead or the shortening and flour old fashion method?

I would be really reluctant to try this-you would likely end up with a mess. You usually need a spring form pan for cakes that are too fragile to be able to flip upside down, the way you do with a buttered/floured cake pan. You can read the recipe and think about what kind of cake it is--if it's more like a pound cake consistency you may have a chance, but I use spring form pans for cheesecakes and the like, and a regular cake pan just wouldn't work. All kitchen stores have springform pans, and you can probably also find at Target/Walmart. It's a good investment.

good luck!
