Why do you use soybean oil in cakes?
Because the US Government has been subsidizing the soy industry with taxpayer funds for over 30 years. Soy is a top 5 allergen and also creates cross allergies with many other foods. Soy should not be used as an ingredient in any food period but due to crippling corruption in our government health is second to profits! Please keep that in mind when you vote. We need to get the government out of the food business.

If the cooking oil is the primary fat in the cooking, your cookie will not bind together, and it will be really hard after you've baked it. Quite inedible, too.
Can you use walnut oil instead of vegetable oil in cupcakes?
Absolutely! Walnut oil adds a delicious nutty quality to baked goods while maintaining moisture. It is especially great in coffee cake and carrot cake batters that already pair fantastically with nuts. Plus it is a much healthier choice than vegetable oil. The one consideration to keep in mind is that walnut oil is a little more delicate than vegetable oil, so I wouldn't recommend baking above 375 degrees F.
The oil doesn't spit, it's the moisture in the pan that spits. Any water droplets on the food or the pan get covered over by the oil. Then when the water gets hot enough to boil and turn to steam, it makes a small explosion and throughs a bit of the oil out of the pan when it explodes.
Can canola oil be substituted for olive oil when making pasta?
You don't really need oil to make pasta, you just need boiling water, with maybe some salt added if you prefer it that way. If you need oil for a sauce, you theoretically use canola in place of olive oil, but taste wise and health wise you wouldn't want to. A good quality extra virgin olive oil tastes way better than any canola ever could, and since canola has to be heated to be extracted, it already has formed carcinogens before you even bring it home from the store, whereas a cold pressed extra virgin olive oil hasn't been heated higher than usually 96 degrees and therefore it has little or no carcinogens until you start heating it, therefore is you are careful you have a longer time before it becomes dangerous for health. Also, oils should always be purchased in a glass bottle. Plastic bottles are not only bad for health, but also have a very negative effect on the pure taste of the oil.

What are the consequences for using canola oil instead of margarine butter in cookie dough?
You will usually end-up with oily cookies because the oil does not get absorbed and incorporated in the same way during cooking as do solid fats. Try the substitution and see what the cookies look and taste like, experiment a little.
What is the equivalent in cooking oil of 1 ounce of margarine?
Margarine is 80% fat and 20% watery, so there is no realcorrespondence.
The 0.8 ounce of margarine oil would be equal to 1,82 tablespoon of vegetable oil, but you'd need to add 0.45 tablespoons of whey or some other watery fluid as well.
Effects on Humans: Most vegetable oil mists are biologically inert and are therefore considered to be nuisance particulates. Vegetable oil mists seem to have little adverse effect on the lungs and do not produce significant organic disease or toxic effects when exposures are kept under reasonable control [ACGIH 1991]. Oils from certain plants such as castor bean, sesame, acacia, and cashew nut have caused occupational dermatitis and respiratory irritation. Exposure to acacia gum oil has been associated with occupational asthma and dermatitis [ACGIH 1991]. Ingestion of cottonseed oil that also contained some camphorated oils has caused clinical toxicity, coma, and death [ACGIH 1991].
Acute exposure: No signs or symptoms of acute exposure to vegetable oil mist have been reported in humans. However, oils from certain plants (e.g. castor bean, sesame, acacia, and cashew nut) have reportedly caused occupational dermatitis and respiratory irritation [ACGIH 1991].
Can you power a lawn mower with used cooking oil?
If it's a diesel engine mower than you can convert the used veggie oil to bio diesel and use it however if your mower is gas powered than no you cannot, the reason being that diesel engines use high compression in order to be able to ignite and use the low octane diesel or biodiesel fuels where as gas engines do not need to do this as gas is highly combustable even at atmospheric pressure. And just another thing about this I have heard of people mistakingly putting gas into a diesle engine and blowing the engine apart because of the explosive combo of super high compression and the gasses high octane rating, NOT Good. Hope this helps
There is quite a variety of cooking oils available that are suitable for different applications as well as for certain dietary requirements. Generally, most people tend to use sunflower oil for their daily cooking needs whereas there are others that use soya oil. But what is the difference between sunflower and soya oil? Sunflower Oil. Pure sunflower oil is the most popular one. As the name implies, it is made from sunflowers, or more specifically from the sunflower seeds. It is triple refined to ensure its purity. It is golden yellow in colour and has no objectionable odour when it is heated to 180 degrees Celsius. It is used in various cooking applications such as frying, cooking, baking, roasting and for use in salads. This cooking ingredient is high in polyunsaturated fats yet it is low in saturated fats. It is also, surprisingly, low in cholesterol. Sunflower oil contains antioxidants that enhance its lifespan thus it can be stored for up to 24 months in a sealed container. It also contains antifoam which prevents excessive foaming during cooking. Overall it is a healthy oil provided that it is consumed in moderate quantities therefore it is suitable for most people. In addition, used sunflower oil is recycled to become the main component in the manufacturing of alternative fuels such as biodiesel. Soya Oil. Soya oil is made from the extracted seeds of soya beans. It is usually considered to be a healthier alternative for individuals who have certain dietary restrictions and is one of the most popular cooking oils. It is also sometimes considered to be a vegetable oil and is used often in the preparation of processed foods. It can be used mainly for frying and baking applications as well as a condiment for salads. The soya version differs to its sunflower cousin in its texture and drying ability. It will solidify or harden when it is exposed to air for a long period of time. In certain industries, soya oil can be used in the manufacturing of certain printing inks. These two popular cooking oils are used by many people for the daily preparation of their meals. Yet they also have alternative uses. For certain meal preparation processes, you may require the one instead of the other for a better or different flavour component. It is up to you as to which option is best suited to your needs.
