I used to have a Hermit Crab that was originally wild, Buddy. He needed more space than my sister's tame crab, Friendly. Also, Friendly was a little lazy. Buddy wanted to climb all day. I don't know if all wild Hermits are like this

You can make salt water for fiddler crabs. You need to use sea salt. Never use table salt. And you need to use distilled water or water that has been treated to remove the chlorine. You can get sea salt at a pet store. 1 tea salt to 1 gallon water. Change it often.

The salinity affects the crabs by altering the size of their internal organs, causing them to swell and decrease, as the salinity does.

This drastic change in the crabs can cause death, and colour changes within the crab.

First of all, you should make sure it actually needs to change shells because it has become too big for it.

To make your hermit crab switch shells, place ONE crab in a small container that the cannot escape out of, put a shell in the container that you would like them to switch into. Turn off all the lights, and have a dark quiet room for them to switch in. Peek on your crab every hour.

Well in the cage you should have more than three shells so whenever it grows it can just change when it wants to.The crab will change when it wants to, when it grows bigger it should change when it cant fit in that shell anymore. Make sure that the shells you put in the cage are bigger than its old one.

In their natural habitat amongst the mangroves they do eat some fruits that fall on to the mud.

if its lost but you think its still in the tank, they love to dig and it is somewhere in the floor of your tank. hermit crabs are escape artists, so if you have a branch at the top of the tank, it would climb up and fall out the edge. if its lost and is not in the tank, theres not really much to do except watch the floor carefully and put a lid on the top of the tank so it doesnt happen again, or the crab could just be in another shell.

first of all, there should already be a lid on the cage so you wouldn't have this problem! but, if the hermit crab got out, i would suggest closing the door to the room so it stays in the room and put food on the floor. if the crab has a favorite type of food, that would be better to put on the floor. if that doesnt work, start up a search party and find that little sucker! good luck.

I lost mine 3 times in one day. We looked everywhere. They are nocturnal so we turned off the lights in one room and waited. The crab finally came to the dark room and we found it. If this dosent work put food (tuna or peanut butter) on foil and if the crab goes to get food you will hear it on the foil.

I really don't think you shoulden't because hermit crabs aren't where expirensed with other crabs what i'm trying to say is that the other crab might try to take him out of his shell and eat him but hey what do i know i'm 10

yes, fiddler crabs do lay eggs, because they are not mammals and i've never heard of a crab having live babies!

The claw.

Not all birds. Only sea birds such as seagulls. Seagulls would eat the bigger ones, and smaller shorebirds eat sandcrabs and other crustacians under the sand.

If you mean "Pinchers" yes, i believe every crab will be born and will live with a claw. It sometimes can fall of or detatch at times, but i think they can reproduce claws and legs when it molts, i dont now if every crab molts, but i do know hermit crabs molt.

There are these tiny little sea sponges you can find in little clear baggies hanging up in the fish/reptile care and supplies section of any Walmart and you just soak them with water and set them in the cage. You can also place the sponge in a small jar lid after you wet it if you don't want all the surrounding sand to get wet. You just replace the sponge every few days when it gets drier.

If a crab were to lose its legs it would probably would not be able to move around and die.
