Make sure you get enough sand that is able to cover double the crab and its shell.

Should you keep Hermit Crabs wet?

Some Hermit Crabs are land crabs that can get slightly wet. If they get too wet they can drown. Hermit crabs that live on the beach or sea, can most certainly get wet without harming the crabs. Hermit Crabs, that are kept as pets, are land Hermit Crabs. These will need baths in very shallow water. Their drinking water bowl should also be shallow. So, it looks like the answer is: they can get wet but should not be left in deep water and or be kept in water for any length of time. They should be allowed to get in and out of shallow water on the own.

Is it common to be served a barnacle in crab legs and are barnacles safe to eat?

I had never been served crab legs with barnacles.... until today. According to our server at Red Lobster they are "harmless" and don't compromise the flavor... which made no difference to me as they looked DISGUSTING and I immediately lost my appetite for crab. It at the very least did not look palatable and I am shocked that they were okay with serving a plate full of these critters! It really gave me the heebie jeebies and I won't be eating crab or at Red Lobster anytime soon!

Why are raf called crab fats?

The reason the RAF are called crab fats by the Royal Navy goes back a few years and lies in the fact that naval personnel used to use the grease that the gun shells were caked in to get rid of crabs which they had picked up after visiting some brothel overseas.

The term crab fat derived from the grease they used, it happened to be the same colour as the RAF uniform. Hence the term.
