Hermit crabs can climb many things but glass is not one if them

My Small Hermit crab has climbed out of his 10g tank 4 times in the past 2 weeks. It has solid glass walls about 12" high, with the only thing of any height at all is a half coconut that rises roughly 4 inches. I wish he would do it while we are home so we can see, but there is no option but he is somehow climbing the glass. His larger buddy in the same tank does not seem to possess the same spiderman capabilities.
