i currently take 1 60 mg cymbalta once daily in morning with breakfast and 1 10 mg flexeril (3x daily) spread throughout the day. i am also under a physicians care. so id say short term yes, idk about long term. talk to your doctor

I have been on cymbalta for some time and I do have times when I feel itchy all over. I also, on more than one occasion, get blistery itchy bumps. At first I thought it was poison ivy. The first time, it was a large patch from my wrist to my elbow and it crusted over. Now it's like it lies dormat and when I get stressed out I get a patch on my arm. Sometimes it really itches and sometimes it doesn't at all. Originally I thought maybe the meds made me more sensitive to the sun but it's happened when I haven't been in the sun uncovered. I finally came to the conclusion it was the cymbalta. I was off it for a year and never had the problem but it returned when I started taking it again.

I would not advise taking this combo. and if it was all from the same doc. then i would use caution. All three meds deal with the blocking of the reuptake of norepinephrine.

Myneurologist put me on Cymbalta after my Pamelor seemed to be strong enough.
When she put me on Cymbalta I was so HAPPY. The pain in my legs was feeling better. I still and on Cymbalta, the pain is not gone, but it is the most relieved I was given.
I suggest all people who suffer from neuropathy should talk to their doctors about it.
It make a big difference for me and I love !<3! my Cymbalta!!

Please please do not take weight loss pills... they are bad for you. They promise miraculous results but they'll be the start of years and years of yo-yo dieiting. I know, I took them for years and all they helped me do was to get an eating disorder and help me diet myself fatter over the years.

Any antidepressant can make you gain weight. but only a certain percentage of people will gain weight on an antidepressant. Cymbalta is not one of the worst, Paxil and Remeron would be. It is thought that a long term weight gain of a couple of pounds typically, like 1-2% of your body weight (2-5 pounds) can be expected, but benefits generally greatly outweigh the risks, and that more people DON'T gain weight while taking an antidepressant than the other way around.

On the other hand, some psychiatrists tell their patients that weight gain is an expected side effect of antidepressants due to changes their metabolism, and that weight gain is experienced by most of her patients.

Personal experience:

I have gained weight on all of the antidepressants I have tried (and there have been many). My internal medicine doctor told me that weight gain is expected on antidepressant drugs, including Cymbalta. It is true that some people don't gain weight but they are in the minority. For the majority of those who do gain weight, it isn't 1-2% of your body weight, but significantly higher. I have never gained less than 20 pounds despite maintaining a diet of around 1000 calories a day and exercising 5-6 times a week. Of course, if you are in the abyss it is worth the weight gain, but, know what you are getting yourself into.

Cymbalta side effects/symptoms after stopping it, even low dosage, can be quite unpleasant and frightening. Those so called "zaps" in the head that some people have discussed online, can continue for quite a while. I consider it a drug not to be used unless absolutely necessary and even then recommend you be monitored closely. Not so impressed! The price of this drug is outragious!

Yes, there is no problem in taking those 2 drugs together. However, you might see combined side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness. ------I have been on methadone and effexor for 5 years together. It does cause increased drowsiness, so be very careful! I had a car accident because of falling asleep while driving. I also noticed massive sweating, because it is a side effect of both medications. Not fun! But after I adjusted, it has been no worse than the usual sweating you would experience on methadone anyway. It took a long time for the sleepiness to correct itself. I find I am somewhat sedated on methadone no matter what dose it is, and by that I mean that it is easier for me to fall asleep while watching TV or at the movies when its all dark! Be careful when you take these together, you might have to adjust your doses. Talk to your doctor!

I have been on Cymbalta (90mg) for a few years and have had severe problems with insomnia. The Ambien that my doctor prescribed me wasn't working, even if I took the highest dosage available. So, she prescribed 25mg Seroquel to help me sleep. It worked, but then I started having what they call Restless Leg Syndrome. I'm not sure if that was caused by the Seroquel alone or the mixture of Cymbalta and Seroquel. Needless to say, I quit taking the Seroquel and my RLS symptoms disappeared. As far as I know, the two can be taken together since my doctor specifically prescribed them both to me.

Though it may be somewhat difficult to do, it is very possible and the lasting effects from a Cymbalta-related overdose are permanent and severe, at least from what I have personally experienced. If you have previous personality disorders (which by taking this medicine already- I would assume that you would), they will be greatly altered in a negative manner. I personally advanced from typical depression/anxiety/borderline to now dealing with agoraphobic schizophrenia. The typical side effects of dizziness, confusion, overheightened senses (usually causing hallucinations)- they become a permanent issue. I attempted to treat the 24/7-constant-panic problem with medicines such as Clonezepam/Klonopin. After having to come off of Klonopin due to side effects, I ended up being hospitalized because of what I assumed to be withdrawals. By the time the withdrawals should have been over and the medicine entirely out of my system, I was in worse condition than I was even in before. This, I discovered, was how the Cymbalta had left me. Permanently psychological, chemical, and nerve damage. Since this event, I am still going through medicines like a child in a candy store. None of them seem to work for much longer than a short period of time. I would strongly advise trying to avoid even a slight overdose of Cymbalta/significant increase in dosage, and especially attempting to fix yourself by consuming all of the Cymbalta you can get your hands on. I'm no expert, but I'm trying to get off it myself. It is--in effect--out of my system almost entirely. I am feeling the effects of that. One thing to keep in mind is that the brain chemistry is affected. Withdrawal from a drug that produces stimulation and altertness--including SSRIs like prozac--is likely to produce fatique and dullness for awhile. I don't know how long this lasts... but the brain has to get used to a new normal, and things may be uncomfortable for awhile.

As far as I know, I have read the combinations of both medications and there doesn't seem to be any reason why not - but that always makes me think that if it does clash then I'll be the one who causes the medication docket to need to be re-printed.

These are not contraindicated when taken together. There are rare cases in which individuals cannot tolerate a certain combination of medications. However, there is no known problem, generally speaking, in taking both Cymbalta and Percocet.

If you are considering doing this, please do a cold water extraction of the pill. Look up cold water extraction and learn to do it, all you need is a shot glass or pill bottle, a freezer and a coffee filter. This drug is not something you should IV, it's very dangerous, there are a lot of alternatives that feel better, I have tried it for the sake of discovery and I can tell you that it's not a very good rush considering how dangerous it is, try to find something better and always use a cold water extraction / coffee filter if you are going to IV pills. There are better ways to scratch your itch this one will kill you. Investing in syringe filters would be better. The previous answer to the question is very wrong and dangerous. At first, it worked just like above. After doing it maybe a dozen times, my veins clogged up each time, causing large blood blisters and widespread local anesthesia (i.e. entire forearm), with pain just outside the reach of the numbness. It also hardened my veins, up and down, so now I'm left with my hand veins as viable for other substances. I find the resulting solution of Wellbutrin after being crushed and mixed with water is viscous and slippery to the touch. When in contact with blood, the blood seems to congeal quickly. This is a bad idea, unless one could produce a less dense solution.

Cymbalta is an antidepressant that is in the class of serotonin and norepinephrine inhibitor. Wellbutrin is also an antidepressant, but in the class of dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors.
