I'm not an expert but usually the average cost would be rangeing from about 150 to 300 dollars. It's usually rare for a dachshund to be like 400 or even 500 dollars ( even though it can infact happen) but yeah 150 to 300 dollars is usually the case. Hope this helped! ;)

There are lots of different Dachshund colors and coats. I have a double E recessive cream long hair. It is really rare to have one like this because he is totally cream colored (blonde). Most creams are shaded, they have black or red tips on there hair. I would think that the most rare would be one with a gene recess like mine or a blue. Blues have thin hair and also leads to thin skin. They have problems and are hard to care for which makes them very seldom bred.

Firstly, you look for a short cute name that you like. If the dog already has a full name just make up a shorter one using the letters in the dogs name. If the dog doesnt have a full name and you are that stuck, look at him/her and think about what he/she reminds you of. Whether its a food or anything else. Its easy!!

Basically, a Dachshund has different sizes. For example, a mini is a small one, and looks a lot smaller than a regular one. A tweenie, (which just happens to be the size of mine) is in between, and can grow about 7 in. off the ground, my estimation. Last, there is a full. Wich can grow very big, but i cannot say how. If you bathe them regularly they don't. But if you smell their face it might smell bad do to run-off from their eyes. You can buy powder to put in their food that helps that.

Yes they are very intellegent. I have two and they are pretty easy to train.

No No they shouldn't be left out. Small dogs can come under the heading of "lap dogs" meaning they are small enough to sit on one's lap and are meant to be close companions in the household. I once owned a long-haired Dachie who was always close to me and I would no more think of having left her outside (even in a kennel) than I would put a small child outside for the night. Preditors can also attack small dogs and do. Even in cities there are coyotes and once where I live in B.C. in a large town I saw a 400 lb. bear amble up my driveway (over-fed itself and no real risk) but my eyes bulged out of my head and I was glad I kept my small dogs inside. If you don't like your small dog sleeping with you then train them to go to their cushion in the corner of the bedroom (they love to be close to their owner.) My husband and I don't mind our small dogs in bed with us and if we want some privacy they are told to go to their cushion in the front room. If you find this breed a dog too much for you then either give or sell your dog to someone who will give them the love and attention they should. Too many people never check out the breeds that would best suit their home before purchasing a dog. Don't take the chance, something might come into your yard and kill it, that's what happend to my bunny. :(
