yes, puppies can, and will, usually when they are around a year of age. Puppies will chew on things to loose their teeth, and it is important for the development of their gums. Keep wires and valuables out of reach, and provide SAFE chew toys. Most importantly, never scold a puppy when they have chewed something up, unless it's caught in the act... they will not remember what they did wrong. If a puppy is chewing on the chew toys you provided, as opposed to the furniture, praise them. :)

from what i have heard when we used to breed them, was that they were bred to hunt badgers and other smaller ground dwelling mammals. their short stature was perfect for going into holes and dragging out the animal they were after. As to why they were bred to be long bodied, i haven't figured that one out yet, but am really interested in learning.

Dachshunds were bred for hunting badgers. Long-legged dogs won't fit in the badger holes. The short-leggedness is a form of dwarfism.

All Dachshunds are good companions, they are really sensitive tho and don't like loud things, they do bark a lot if they hear someone walking (if you live in an apartment) but their worth everything! One of the downers about have a Dachshund is they can develop a back issue if they jump the wrong way and they are not aloud to walk up and down the stairs, but they are 100% worth it, sweetest dogs ever, and lap dogs & great with kids. If you purchaced your dog from a reputible breeder, the dog will be registered with the AKC and listed as a purebred dog. A reputible breeder does not sell to pet stores, or if you got your dog from a puppy mill it will most likely not be pure bred. There are expensive DNA test out there to supposedly tell you, but I know someone who did that and got some pretty crazy answers (a husky-looking dog was allegedly a poodle/lab/collie mix...) So really I think the only way to know 100% is if you talk to the breeder who should be able to show you a 3-4 generation AKC pedigree of both parents.

It really depends on if this is your dachshund's first time having puppies. If this is her 1st time she may have 2-3 normally (maybe more in special occasions). If she has had them before you may get more to about the same amounts of pups. So anywhere from 1 pup to maybe 5.

When in the right moods dachshunds can be very playful and enjoy playing with you. When they are tired though, especially with children they can growl and even bite if you approach them.

They enjoy play fighting, tug of war and finding socks, slippers or teddies to chew on!

Grunting in dogs are usually your dog trying to tell you its emotions. I do not know what they are trying to say but it is usually a dog trying to communicate. Like a lazy, long loud grunt may sometimes mean "Tired" or "Bored". If you are scratching your dog's ear and he/she grunts it sometimes means "Love" or "Thanks, i like that". And, finally last example, if it shows actions of being angry, and growls, that means it is "Angry". You may either try to calm him down or stay away and let him calm down himself. that depends on your body style i was 5'8 and weighed 185 pounds i went on a bunch of websites to find out the same question and they all told me i shoukd weigh 160 and that i was 25 pounds over weight but i was very thin and had a really toned body so i went to my docter and he did a fat percentage test and come to find out i could actually gain 10 pounds and still be fine so there are websites that will helpo you get a idea but the best thing would be to go talk to your doctor or your PE teacher could probably help you too i hope this helped you some

5'4 at age 16? Well, I don't think age really matters.. only height and gender. I am 5'4 myself and weigh 140 but I'm only 14. Nobody believes that I actually weigh that much so I know I'm not fat but I am considered "overweight". And I read somewhere that the average weight for a 14 year old was 130 pounds. So if the average weight of a 14 year old who is 5'4 is 130, and you are 5'4 but 16, I would say you're not fat unless you weigh more than like... 150? I'm not fat and I weigh 10 pounds more than 130. But you're 16 so 150 sounds about right to me.

It depends on the type of Dachshund u get. Miniature are smaller and don't get as long as a regular. Regulars can be a little more then a foot when full grown and miniatures can be bout a foot or a little smaller. Thanks for the great question! By KAM
