Dalmatians are loyal and faithful animals, and very good with children. However, they are highly energetic and boisterous, so firm but gentle training is necessary to teach them appropriate behaviour around children (and appropriate behaviour from children around a dog).

Where did the word dalmatian come from?
The origin of the Dalmatian breed is not exactly known since there are theories that state they were bred from an ancient Egyptian spotted-dog to their discovery in a town named Dalmatia in Croatia.
Dalmatians smiles are called "smarls". Smarls are a mixture of smiles and snarls. Only Dalmatians can smarl.
Don't get snarls and smarls mixed up, if a dog is growling with it's tail not wagging it's a snarl and means it's angry, if it's wagging it's tail happily it's a smarl.
Smarls are comman with every Dalmatian you get.
If a dalmatian has one blue eye and one brown eye is this linked to deafness?
We have a dalmatian with a blue and a brown eye and she is totally deaf and has been from birth. Further details: This is not commonly the case. Border collies also sometimes have a blue eye, and the condition is known as a "wall eye". It is not linked to deafness (or blindness).
Are terrier dogs are born with a soft spot?
Yes A puppy can have soft spots. A breeder friend of mine recently had a puppy born with one and it filled in after a few months on it's own. She thought she was going to have to contrieve a helmet for him, but he's normal as can be now!

What color are dalmatians when they are born?
Dalmatians are born pure white. Dalmatian puppies' first spots usually starting in the first week of life and continue for about a month. They will continue throughout life to develop spots but at a slower rate. Spots range in different sizes and sometimes in different colours (blue, grey) other than your typical black or brown.

Make sure it has had a hearing test as dalmatians are EXTREMELY prone to deafness and hearing problems. Especially ones with blue eyes and white ears.
At rescue centers (Spca's, humane societies etc.) The price is much cheaper($100+) but you don't know where these puppies have come from most of the time and what health issues they face in the future.
Dwarf hamsters are very small and it's hard for vets to handle them (from my personal experience). There may not be a way to heal them. If they need surgery, it's very hard to put them under anesthesia. They may or may not come out the same or may not come out at all.
You need to make sure the little hamster is comfy so make sure he/she has cotton wool in his bed, lots of fresh water, salad and other supplies to keep him nourished and his usual food. Also avoid handling him/her.
