Commercial dishwashers take about 15 minutes before it starts to wash. 5 minutes to fill the 10 gallon tub and 10 minutes for it to heat up the water. Each load uses only 2 gallons of water or less. After 6 hours of usage, it’s time to drain the dirty and greasy water, clean the tank and refill with fresh water. So your answer is: 10 plus 2 = 12 gallons. Add 2 more gallons after each load. These dishwasher can run 24/7.

Remove the plastic cap as much as you can. Pull gently or leave it alone. Don’t scrape it off. It will damage the heating element. Unload the dishwasher and set those dishes aside. If you can bi pass the wash cycle and set it to dry cycle only, let it run for 20 minutes or longer. It will burn out the rest of the plastic smell and eventually go away. If this doesn’t work, run the dishwasher empty. More than likely the element is used to heat water and dry dishes. Once the smell is gone, rewash the previous load with detergent.

The problem may not be the dishwasher. All dishwashers should be on its own 20 amp breaker and hard wired. Even portable units that use a plug should be on its own circuit line but often not. If the dishwasher is tied into other appliances or plugs, it can over load and trip the breaker. If this is the only you can run the dishwasher, shut the breaker off and see what else is turned off and avoid leaving them on while dishwasher is running. Hopefully it’s not the refrigerator!

It sounds as though the dishwasher is blocked with dirt form the dishes. Thoroughly clean the filter and run through on the hottest cycle with no dishes except with some bleach in a bowl. This should help sterilise the dishwasher as well as clean it.Then run through on a full cycle with the detergent tab.

Countertop dishwasher have been around for over 10 years. They are very popular in Japan and manufactured in Japan as well. Generally yes, as long as there is no metallic rim or design on it then it is dishwasher safe. If there is any metallic on the china it must be hand washed

Probably not, depends on where the clog is at and how the dishwasher drain is connected. I wouldn't chance it, but the worst that will happen is the sink will fill with the water from the dishwasher.

In most grocery stores, and even in Wal-Mart, where they sell the dishwasher soap, they sell small bottles of dishwasher cleaner. You put the bottle of cleaner in the dishwasher, without the cap, open side down. And you run the dishwasher the way you normally would, but with nothing else in it. When the cycle is done, your dishwasher should be clean and not have any bad odors.

I saw this answer and wanted to post a suggestion. We found that doing this and lots of all the other things wouldn't take the smell away for long. Its always came back. Then I remembered that the inspector had said something about the hose under the sink when we bought our new house. I got out the book and sure enough he noted that the hose between the dishwasher and disposal needed a loop in it 6in higher than the bottom of the sink because we didn't have the vent on top of the sink. So we were getting the smells from the disposal coming into the dishwasher. My husband pulled out the dishwasher and was able to find enough hose to do this and WOW no more smell! Hope you check this out and that its fixes your problem as well.

I suspect that you have a "p" trap in either a floor drain, or possible the laundry tub or a sink somewhere in the house. If you look under the kitchen sink, or a lavatory in the bathroom you can see a p-trap, it's shaped sort of like the curved part of the letter p. The purpose of the p-trap is to trap, or prevent, sewer gasses in the sewer lines from backing up into the house. By design, p-traps catch and hold some water, which blocks the pipe and stops the gas from coming up through the drain. IF you have a floor drain, or a lavatory drain, either of which don't get used enough to keep the water in the trap from evaporating away, leaving the drain pipe open, then when a lot of water is poured or flushed, pumped out of a washer, then that flowing water will push sewer gasses back up through the drain with the dry p-trap. What you are smelling is sewer gas.
