Bunnies should not be bathed. If something gets on them from being in your home, like honey, use a warm cloth to clean them, do not get them fully wet. Bunnies to not naturally bathe as a method of cleaning and it can be extremely upsetting to them.

I have had bunnies for over 20 years and have only twice had to bathe a bunny, once beacuse a sick child threw up all over the poor bunny while snuggling with her.

We bathed the bunny in our kitchen with the lights turned low, a towel in the bottom of a large sink so they didn't feel like they were slipping at anytime and used as little water as possible. We did not fill the sink, but rather ran the water over them as we removed the bits and cleaned her up. They can become very upset by bathing so being as calm and quiet as possible during the bath (again, only if absolutely necessary) is helpful.

Because they are crazy about bananas, we gave them each a few inches of banana after the bath as a reward.

Word to the wise, do not let a sick child snuggle up with a bunny!

When grooming go slow and easy. If needed put a leash on the dog so your dog wont scramble to run away or run at you. Speak softly and praise him or her when they remain calm. If you are using tools like a brush or scissors, let your dog sniff the object and slowly move it closer to them. Let the dog see it the first few times you use it and when it gets more comfortable you can go a little bit faster. REMEMBER dogs have fears just like we do. If they don't want to do it your way try something else instead. Just remember that you are in charge and you make the final call.

I have both a short hair and long hair chihuahua. My short hair during shedding season a quick brush daily will get most of those loose hairs and prevent them from getting on everything else. During the cool weather twice a week will keep them sharp. The long hair actually sheds very little, i groom him twice a week mainly to keep his feathers and plumes looking great.

You dog may have stopped shedding because he or she has their new coat in and no longer needs to shed. Dogs shed during seasonal changes. They get a thinner coat in summer, and a thicker one in winter.

One can find free beagle puppies by looking in classified section of newspaper and classified websites. One can also find puppies at local animal shelters, all though there may be a small adoption fee.

If a dobermans ears are pointy it means the dog has has surgery (cropping) done for their ears to stand and be pointy. A doberman is born with floppy ears and a long tail, but often get surgery to stand the ears and make the tail short.

Are you having your chihuahua groomed? Or your standard poodle? There are huge differences between the maintenance costs of these two animals.

Depending on where you live and the size and breed of your dog, everyday grooming costs anywhere from $20 to $120 for a bath and a standard session. Dogs with curly or wiry coats may cost more to groom. "Extras", such as cologne, nail trimming, anal expression, fur dying, and coat stripping, add to the cost. You will pay more if you are having a dog groomed for a show.

When the puppy is 6 weeks old you could lightly brush them on your lap. The pup will think it's 'play time.' I always let the pup smell the brush first and then gently groom it. You may only get a few strokes of the brush going at first, but keep it up and eventually they will love being groomed and it's much easier on you. Get your puppy accustomed to having his/her paws, ears, mouth, face and tail touched. You want your dog to eventually have no problems with brushing, drying, ear cleaning, ear plucking, nail clipping, and hair cutting. Many puppies may not act very good for the first time hearing a dryer or clippers. Slowly introduce the sounds and feeling or the dryer and clippers at 6 to 8 weeks.

If you are not going to be grooming your dog yourself be sure you introduce your dog to your groomer at 6 to 8 weeks.

as soon as you get your pup around 6weeks you can bring him in to get a bath and have their nails done and sanitary things like eyes and potty and pads of feet trimmed. when ever the hair is too long for you to maintain or you don't' like the look they can have a full cut call around some groomers believe they have to be 6mo - 1yr for this but that's not true. if you first bring your puppy home and they don't need maintance yet then yes brush them daily if you can (while you watch tv) and play with their feet and ears

I've giving puppies full haircuts as early as 6wks and as long as you have a nice groomer the puppy will find the experience fun and strange but it helps in the experience

Yes you can... after 5 months. But make sure that when you wash your puppy you wash it with WARM water. Not hot and not cold. Please make sure of that because your puppy's skin is still very sensitive and cannot handle too much water. Make sure that when you put his shampoo and conditioner you scub it really really gently with your hands. If it's cold out then use warm water and when it's hot it use COOL water. NOT FREEZING COLD but COOL!!!!!! and make sure that when you wash your dog, you wish him every 6 weeks. None less and none more than 6 weeks.

A dog uses its whiskers as a very sensitive sensory device. It lets the animal know when something is too close to its face, what direction the wind is blowing, etc... If you clip these whiskers you will limit the dog's ability to respond to its surroundings.

The main dogs who have minimal shedding are curly-coated,which are said to have hair instead of fur. Poodles are probably the best of these, as they are intelligent, trainable, and come in various sizes.

No. Just take a warm wash cloth, with excess water squeezed out, and wipe down and dry well. However; there really shouldn't be a need for any of this, as the mother will clean them very well. Puppies can also have a bath when they are about 6 months old. BUT BE GENTLE!!!!!!!!!

It depends on where you are located and were you work. I have been doing this for 8 years. One job was 40%. I also got paid $13.00 hr which sucked because if you work hourly the company tries to get in as many dog in as little time as possible. One other job was 50% with benefits. Now I have my own business and I make 100% and I still get tips. Do your time get all kinds of help on different ways and styles find your own style. And in the future open your own shop. Yes you should. It will make her feel better. Sometimes the discharge coming from the her vulva can draw flies if she is outside. It would be healthier for her to keep this area clean.

Most do. If you can't stand hair, stay away from the hereding group! Even short-haired dogs shed , but its barely noticeable. Poodles and some poodle mixes don't , but they require a lot of grooming. There are also "de-shed" vitamin suplements that make even the hairiest dogs shed very little.Anyway, short-haired dogs ,like labs and terriers, shed so little you can't even tell it!(Unless you look very closely)

I have a boxer and he does shed. But their hair is short and heavy so it doesn't float around. It gets into carpet and other fabrics so if you're someone that is very clean I recommend keeping the dog off carpet.

it depends where the puppy is. If it is inside the house , usually once or twice a month should be enough, and be careful with their eyes and ears. On the other hand, if it outside more often you might need it more often. Just do it when the puppy is dirty or smells badly and always use a special product for dogs. Remember though that if you bathe them very often they will have problem with their skin.

• Being a dog groomer you mostly live off commission & tips. Commission is about 40-50% the cost of the groom. SO IT'S IMPOSSIBLE to tell how much a groomer makes per year.It depends on how fast the groomer can finish dogs through the day. Most groomers can do 5-7 dogs a day but there are some who aren't as fast that can only do 4 within her 8 hours and some master groomers can do up to 9 in about 9-10 hours! The best way to get the most dogs done during the day is to rotate the dogs as they come in. As one dries in the kennel you work on the next as appose to drying the dog with a blow drier from it's dripping-wet-state to Bone-dry and then finishing the groom.
• I'd say from experience a groomer can make at least 22k a year if they can do 4-5 dogs a day. A groomer who can only do 4 a day will make about 18-20k so if they can't master the speed then it's not a job you'll want unless you can affored to keep it. If you are REALLY good and can manage about 8 dogs a day you can make over 40k a year! BUT THIS IS VERY VERY RARE.
• So as you can see they don't make a lot of money they mostly do this for the love of dogs! SO DON'T FORGET TO TIP YOUR GROOMER!
• I have to add to this one....40K a year is NOT rare. Most groomers make at least this much if they are busy. They charge $40+ for a small breed clip and can go as high as $100+ for a very large dog. Yes most are on commission but at a 50%-60% of those quoted prices. Most of the groomers I know do at least 8 dogs a day some claim to do 10-14 with a bather/helper.
• It wouldn`t be that hard to make 80K+ a year if you were a shop owner and you were constantly busy.
• I work at a national company in Tennessee (not one of the big cities either!) and am a first year salon manager. This year I have made about 3,000 in bonuses and $44,000 in commissions. I couldn't tell you exactly how much I make in tips, but probably about $2,000. Total I guess you could say about $49,000. In my salon I have a groomer who's been at it full time for two years and grooms on average 6-7 dogs a day. She made $38,000 last year, which is also what I made my first year grooming before I was a manager. Another one of my groomers has been grooming for about a year and is very, very, very slow and can only groom 4-5 dogs a day. She made about $26,000 last year. I groom between 6-10 dogs a day. May I also add that we do not have helpers, as our company does not allow and pay for us to have assistants. We must bathe and dry our own dogs, clean the salon, and answer all calls/ check in and out all dogs. I know groomers in bigger cities such as Knoxville and Nashville that make on average anywhere from $60,000 to $74,000. The one down side to grooming is that really pay is seasonal. We make way more money in the Spring in Summer than in the Winter, with the exception of the holidays. You have to be good at not only grooming, but also managing your finances to survive at this profession. The money does not come over night either. You have to be patient and work really hard and take good care of your clients!

well i hae a yorkie and i went to this gromming thing and they said if u wash yr dog lots of times the hair gose all gressy so once a month or when it smells or if its drity is a good time.

For a basic bath and groom about 35 dollars.

Yes puggles shed but not very much. They dont shed like crazy there hair is short and very thin so it reduces the hair problem.

Both the beagle and pug shed which means the puggle shed. Also, you should brush them to reduce the amount of shedding.

My puggle sheds a LOT. Just brushing up against him will leave hair all over your clothes. Not recommended if you don't like to vaccum.

You can bring it to the groomers. Or you can brush and brush and comb and comb. You can even try some of that hairspray that gets rid of knots, but if you do that be very careful because you don't want your dog to swallow it or get it in its eyes.

No. On average, dogs that don't get shots actually have a longer lifespan than dogs that do get shots. This is because shots are very hard on a dog's immune system.

Of course each different shot will have different benefits and side effects. If you are breeding your dog it is a good idea to get the necessary shots.
