Why did your dog pee on your bed?
I have always understood that this type of behavior from your pet is simply a form of rebellion. Some people say it is a sign of marking their territory. This may also be part of the case, but if your pet feels ignored or isn't getting the attention they may want, or if another animal is present, then sometimes they will resort to relieving themselves on your bed!

What kind of energy does a dog have when it is barking?
The sound and intensity of the bark, as well as the dog's body position and movement, generally communicate the type of energy the dog has when he/she is barking.
For example, a dog that lunges forward, growls then barks, barks in a deep tone, barks loudly, and has his hackles up is most likely expressing assertive, dominant energy. This dog is most likely protecting something that he believes is his.
Some dogs can have nervous energy when they bark. Many small dogs do this type of bark. It tends to be high-pitched and quick. Generally, there is not much room between barks for a breath. This dog most likely wants something to happen. Other times this type of bark means that there is something happening and it feels overwhelming to the dog, so he is barking, hoping that he can gain control over the situation.
Other dogs can have excited, anxious energy. An example of this is of a dog whose tail wags his whole body, a dog that barks in a high-pitched tone accompanied with a slight whine, and a dog that attempts to jump on the person. This dog is most likely happy to see someone, and this dog wants this person to pay attention to him.

What age do your dog has to be to get potty trained?
How To Potty Train A Puppy
Potty Training should begin as soon as your puppy gets home. Puppies urinate frequently and success in house training a puppy depends on anticipating their needs - they should be given the opportunity to relieve themselves at least every two hours. You can usually tell when a puppy 'wants to go' because it will begin looking around, walk in circles and start sniffing for a place. That's your cue to take your pet outside or to the designated area. Remember you must stick to a strict routine, when house training a puppy, so it will quickly learn to be clean within the home. It is also important when learning how to potty train a puppy, that you don't get complacent, or your dog's toilet training can take a back-slide. Continue with the toilet training routine until you are sure that your puppy knows that indoors is not the place to go. Gradually decrease the number of outdoor trips and newspapers inside, but if there are any accidents, just increase the number of visits outdoors again.
How do you train your puppy to do tricks?
Really no different than training a dog. Use treats like nuts or yogurt drops or tiny little pieces of cheese (whichever your mouse like best--some don't like cheese). If you want the mouse to go across a string a couple of inches off the ground then lure the mouse with a treat and have a larger piece at the end of the string on a platform. Mice are extremely easy to train. They're not as motivated by food as some species are, though, so you might have to get it hungry by taking out its food dish for a few hours before you try to train it.

Why are puppies so playful growing up?
Puppies are very playful when they are young because they are very energetic. They have a bunch of bottled up energy that they HAVE to get rid of. Play is also the way that they discover their limits with people and what they can do and get away with.
How do you get puppies to stop chewing?
Its natural for puppies to chew. They, like human babies, explore their surroundings with their mouths, and will also chew more when teething.
Lots of chew toys, and toys like the Kong you can stuff with food are good toys that hold the puppy's attention. It is ideal to teach the pup a "leave" or "drop it" command, so you can easily take things from your puppy's mouth. The best method for this is to take the object away from the puppy and give him something that is even more prized - such as his favourite toy or treat.
How do you wee wee pad train a dog?
How do you stop a male dog who is not fixed from sniffing at female dogs that are fixed?
They do what comes naturally, and also, when they smell each others behinds it's a way of identification and a quick run-down on the dogs personality traits. However, it isn't the best thing for pet owners to have to put up with. I have a female Bichon Frise and a cockapoo x terrier that is male and both of them have been fixed. I basically train him not to do this. When he starts now I quickly say in a soft, but stern voice and point a finger "NO!" He stops and that's the end of that. I haven't had to do this too many times. It takes persistence, but they get the message sooner or later. Marcy
How do you stop a puppy from pooping liquid?

Why has my dog started growling at you for no reason?
Just like humans interacting with each other dogs can get testy with the other dog. It's nothing to be that concerned about, but just tell them to 'cool it.' I just had to break up a growling session between my Bichon Frise and Cockapoo last night. They simply got on each other's nerves. Once I spoke to them and send them to their beds they calmed down and all was well. Be strict, shake your finger, say 'no' in a stern voice. You are the leader of the pack and not them!
How can you show your dog that you are dominant over him?
The idea of dominance is a much abused and misused one. Leadership is a more descriptive term. Leadership is established by control of resources, control of behavior, and stewardship. A common misconception is that one must eat first or go through doors first or hold one's head higher than a dog in order to rank above it. It isn't who goes through the door first that matters, but who DECIDES who goes through the door first. (That's control of behavior.) Violence is not necessary to establish pack leadership. In fact, it is counter productive because it shows the dog that the biggest bully wins. Use your innate advantages to establish your position in the pack, ie your intelligence and your pocket book. See links below. =Other contributors have said:= * Make them sit before you let them go outside or back in. * YOU go in a door way first, dog second. * Make them wait before eating. Take a treat away from him while he is eating it. Then give it back. * Walk on leash. You are in control. Don't let the dog pull you where he wants to go.
How do teach a dog to protect?
Easy, you can't command your dog to protect you, your children, or even your house. If your dog is like mine, just love and take care of your dog like any good trainer, Owner, or Family member would. You need to make sure that your dog is in a happy home and has a family that would take care of Him/ Her with their lifes. Once you show him, He will do the same......

When does a puppy wear a collar?
I'd say you could start putting a collar on puppies when they are about 5 weeks old. Maybe even sooner. Just to be safe though don't give them a tag until 7 or 8 weeks.
True but vets recommend starting your pup walking with a dog harness and leash rather than using the dog collar for this.
How do you know if your dog is mad or sad?
Sometimes dogs become depressed because they lose a companion; often the only treatment for this is time and still being a companion to him. If your dog appears to be depressed, try spending more one-on-one time with him - going for walks just you and him, sitting with him and petting just him, etc. Most dogs eventually realize that they still have a "pack" and are still welcome in it given time.
Why can dogs hear the dog whistle?
Most humans can't, however as dog whistles are just above the TYPICAL range for human hearing, a few can. All humans that can hear dog whistles have hearing ranges that are slightly above normal. Many of these people are young, mostly kids, as humans naturally loose portions of their hearing as they age. Most have lost the ability to hear this range by the completion of puberty. Some other sounds that people that hear dog whistles will typically hear are the driver circuitry on an old CRT based TV, charging circuits for strobes, failing hard drives...
Why does the dog growl at family members?
There are a number of reasons why a dog may growl at a child. She may have had a harsh upbringing, or she might have become very stressed living at a shelter for even a short period. She may be fearful, unsure of herself and distrusting of strangers, even small ones. There is also the possibility that sometime in the past she was harmed or frightened by children, even if they meant her no harm. By the way, although we don't want our pets to growl at kids, in a way it's actually a good thing; it shows that the dog has restraint and is able to give humans a warning when she doesn't want to be approached. A dangerous dog would simply attack a child who irritated her.
To deal with this issue, try building Sweetie's self-esteem. Praise her when she follows commands and when she quietly accepts strangers. Buy her a toy that dispenses small treats when she pushes it around and explores it; because she will succeed at "scavenging" food, she will build her confidence. A confident dog is much less apt to be afraid of people.
A trainer who uses positive methods may be able to help your animal reduce her fear of children. Also, a product called a Thunder Shirt is available commercially to help dogs feel more secure in potentially frightening situations.
Where are guide dogs allowed to go?
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), businesses and organizations that serve the public must allow people with disabilities to bring their service dogs into all areas of the facility where customers are normally allowed to go. This federal law applies to all businesses open to the public, including restaurants, hotels, taxis and shuttles, grocery and department stores, hospitals and medical offices, theaters, health clubs, parks, and zoos.
Private clubs (such as country clubs) and houses of worship (churches, mosques, etc.) may choose to exclude service dogs. They may of course choose to include them as well.
