You can say "speak" whenever you hear the dog barking and give it treat and praise. The dog will soon associate the treat and praise to the word and action. Then the dog will speak on command because they know what the sound is telling them to do and they want a treat.

Puppies should be fed about three times a day. In the morning, afternoon, and in the evening (around the same times a human would eat a meal). Also, be sure that their evening feeding is three or four hours away from when they will go to sleep. A puppy should be taken to go out to "potty" after they have woken up, after they eat, and after they play. Be consistent with this routine and eventually your pup will be get into a schedule. A lot of dogs (but not all) will eventually tell you when they need to go to the bathroom, but puppies won't/can't do this until about 4 or 5 months of age, so don't expect it. Also, don't expect that your puppy will never have an accident in the house, because it will (trust me). If you find they've piddled on the carpet after the fact, it's really too late and there's nothing you can do but clean it up really well (if they smell their urine there later, they will want to go there again, thinking that's the place for it). If you DO catch them in the act, scold them (tell them "no!", firmly in a low tone), then as soon as possible, take them outside/to the area you want them to "potty" in. If you're taking your pup outside often enough, they shouldn't NEED to go in the house, but sometimes accidents happen. Eventually accidents will be few and far between (or never happen at all). It is definitely OK to leave him outside the crate if you trust him not to destroy your house. Many dogs get bored when they are home alone and start chewing on furniture. We let my dog roam the house when we were not there when she was about 2 years old.

German Shepherds are very smart dogs. Many police use them as the K- 9 unit. You can teach them to do unbelievable things! Some dogs do tricks for treats or just for you to give them a good pat.

Probally one of the most basic tricks is Sit. To make them sit, take your dog and a treat, hold the treat in your hand, and wait until the dog puts his/her butt on the floor. Right when she/he does, immediatly reward him with a treat saying "Sit." Keep doing that and eventually Rover will get the idea. Pretty simple. You can teach them to do other things like stay or lay down. You can make him/ her lay down by holding a treat in your hand, make them sit, then put your hand to the ground. Your dog will follow it, and lay down. Once he/she is on the ground, laying down, Say "Lay down" Or whatever you want to call the trick. Be sure to encourage and praise your dog alot, and not to yell at him/ her if she/he messes up. Try not to get frustrated, it takes patience to train a dog.

Its sort of obvious why your dog throws up when he barks. The smell of the outside air attracts the nose to the outside so it tries to climb down the throat and the dog barks then the nose reaches the mouth and hits the hangy thing in your throat and he throws up.....
