How long do orange tabbies live?
A well cared for cat that is kept indoors and is fed a good nutritional diet would be expected to live for about 15 years. Some cats do live to 20+ years and there are records of a few cats reaching over 30 years. These sort of ages for a cat are very much the exception however.
What is the biggest domestic cat breed?
I know the American Shorthair is a pretty common cat, but it might not be the MOST common. :)
How many kittens does the average domestic cat have?
A cat can have up to five liters in 1 year. They can have 6 or more kittens each time. They can reach sexual maturity as early as 4 months of age. And most cats live at least 10 years, some over 20 years.....you do the math
Basically that works out at 300 kittens if a cat was sexually productive for 10 years. However it is more likely that a cat would have about 4 kittens on average, 2.5 times a year, so say 10 per year, for maybe 5 years, 50 kittens. This is a very conservative estimate, however if this was true then it would only take 9 generations (if all of those cats were to have 50 kittens) to cover the whole world in cats! The surface area of the world being 510 million km2 and assuming you could fit a cat in an area of 0.03m2.
So watch out kids, neuter your cats!
Are there spines on a male cats penis?
Yes, they do. All male cats have sharp backwords pointing spikes on their penis. When mating, the spines will scrape the walls of the cats vagina to cause ovulation. That's why the female cat whines during mating.

Where are the testicles located on a male cat?
A male's testicles are found underneath the tail, right under the anus. In an intact and mature male, the testicles are very pronounced. If the cat is neutered, then the testicles will not be apparent, but will be a gap between the anus and penis where the testicles once were.
The same way that all mammals reproduce. Dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, people. The male deposits sperm in the female reproductive organs, where it fertilizes an egg. The egg implants in the womb, and grows until the baby is born.
Black cats grow the same age as any cat. I have two black cats myself.
They are no different to normal cats, they can still catch diseases like other cats and will not live (on average) longer or shorter than any other cat.
Some people believe black cats live longer but it hasn't been scientifically proven.
Do some cats have black claws?
No. Cats may have different colours or claw sizes but they will always be the same claws... unless you're thinking of the same exact claws on your cats claws then all cats do not share claws.

How do you get your male cat to purr?
It really depends on the type of cat and their personality etc. The mood as well. If a cat is angry with another cat, what will it do? - hiss and snarl. It can purr for affection to another cat.
Why has a manx cat got no tail?
Manx cats come from the Isle of Man. Those bred there have their tails docked at a young age. A manx cat with a tail is usually one that has been bred off the island, or in unusual cases, by a breeder who does not practice tail-docking.
It is also very easy to confuse a Silver Tabby runt for a manx cat with a tail, as the two have similar colours & markings.
What color are kittens when they are born?
orange or ginger is on the X chromosome, women are XX and men are XY, orange in dominant to other colors. The mother gives all of her offspring Xs and the father gives either an X or a Y, if he gives an X it will be a girl, if he gives a Y it will be a boy. If the mother is black and white the male kittens will be some variation of black and white or whatever color she has in her genes, because they wont receive an X with the orange trait on it, the female kittens will be either orange or mixed like calico or tortise shell, because one of their Xs is from the orange male, it will have the orange gene which is either dominant to other colors or blends with them.
What color kittens will you get if you breed a dark brown tabby and a silver tabby?
I've done this. One kitten was orange, the other two were black.
You can never tell what color of kittens you're going to get. I once bred two black cats. The litter contained a white one and three gray tabbies. Sometimes the kittens will look like the father or the mother.(They could inherit colors from the father or mother). Usually white.
Around 25-50% of the kittens will have stripes, plus the ginger ones which will always have stripes. Your females will be tortoiseshell with any other colour, or any colour except ginger. Your males can be any colour.
Both tabby and tortoise shell are color patterns in a variety of cats. Unfortunately you cannot predict what color or what color patterns you will achieve. You would need to take into account the genetic history of both cats. Also, with tortoise shell, I'm assuming you would mean calico pattern and that is predominately female. Only 1 in 3000 males have the tortoise pattern. Instead of breeding these two cats together for a certain look, I'd suggest looking at your local shelter or rescue organization. I'm sure they will have kittens that have been born to parent cats of these color patterns. Spay and neuter your pet and adopt one that is exactly what you want. Remember not only can you not predict coloring of your pet's kittens, you cannot guarantee they will be as loving and perfect as your current pet.
Also, you can determine what the color of the kittens would be by drawing a punnet square. Found by Robert Punnet, a punnet square determines the genotypes and phenotypes of a certain species. All traits are inherited from the father and mother. Just draw a square and divide it into four sections. List all the genotypes from the father and mother, including their ressesive alleles. (Note: you might want to ask your vet to perform a genetics test on your female and male cat). For instance, if the father has a dominant allele for tabby fur, and a recessive allele for black fur, you would write on the outside of the square: BT, BB.
50% of the males would be ginger, 50% not. 50% of the females would be tortoiseshell, 50% not. At least 50% of the non-ginger or tortoiseshell kittens will be tabbies.

How long can a Tabby Cat live for?
Most cats have a life expectancy of around 14-16 years. Although, every cat is different and their life expectancy can vary widely depending on their health, environment and care. Please note that the term "tabby" is just a description of a certain coat pattern, not a cat breed. There is no link between coat colour or pattern and a cat's lifespan.
I know of cats who developed cancer very early in life and didn't live to be 5 years old but I've also known cats who were very sick but lived so long (16, 18, almost 20 years) they eventually had to be euthanized because to let them live with such a diminished quality of life was just inhumane.
I had an outside cat who died of natural causes at about 12, another inside only cat who died of a blood clot as a result of spaying at 2, another who made it to 16 before my Dad finally had her put down because she had cancer which had spread rapidly and there was really no course of treatment left for her. I have an all black male who is about 8 (he was rescued and the vet guessed his age at 2 years old so he is at least 8) and he is an inside cat who we let out during the day when he wants to go out. I also have a female who will be 2 in October but she is showing the same symptoms as a close friends cat did that developed cancer by age 4 and had to be euthanized... I'm keeping my fingers crossed because the vet hasn't found anything concrete yet.
(I've had cats my whole life, 27 years, and have done alot of research on them concerning their health, behavior, traits, etc.)

What breed of cat is a orange cat?
Usually, the orange and white cats are striped and the coloring is referred to as "tabby". Most are simply domestic short hairs. Morris cats are such.
Is the Tonkinese a good outdoor cat?
Yes and no. My Maine Coon's love going outside but they have very long fur so we have to brush them a lot to get the dirt and other such things out of their fur. It's hard for them to keep their coat clean when they spend a lot of times outside, for the most part.
Are black and white cats crazier than other cats?
Well it depends which way you are asking. If you mean different because of the superstition that black cats are bad luck then no because that is not true. If you are asking if black cats are different from other colored cats, yes and no. They are both cats and will be relatively the same, but cats have different personalities and will not be exactly alike.
Can a purebred British Shorthair have a blue patched tabby coat?
Red is a possible color for the British Shorthair breed of cats but it is not a common color.
Are long haired calico cats rare?
Calico is a color pattern of the cat that involves mottled orange, black/gray, and white--not to be confused to with tortoiseshells, which have considerably less, if any, white. They are almost invariably female. Breeds and the length of their fur have nothing to do with calico markings.
Why don't all cats have the letter M on their foreheads?
its a common trait with tabby cats and has to do with their colors This is the Legend of the Tabby "M" All of us, at one time or another, have listened to the "old folks" tell us amazing tales. Folk lore and legends abound in all cultures. Passed by word of mouth from one generation to the next, these legends grow and change. A veterinarian shared this story with me. I share it with you, in the tradition of story-telling, in my own words and with my own embellishments. This is the legend of the Tabby "M". All of us have heard that first Christmas described as a silent night. However, one of God's creatures knew otherwise.
The cat hunted in the cold, starry night. He didn't look much different from the other cats; he was gray in color with stripes the color of charcoal. As he walked down the dark alleyway, he heard crying coming from a stable. He entered the door and saw a mother trying to comfort her newborn son.
She spoke softly. "I don't know what to do. I thought you were hungry, so I fed you. I thought you were wet, so I changed your diaper. I thought you were cold, so I wrapped another blanket around you."
She rocked the infant a few minutes longer and then laid him back in a manger filled with hay. The baby continued to cry.
The cat knew what needed to be done. He leapt into the manger and curled up next to the child. In comforting tones, he began to purr. It was the sweetest lull-a-bye ever heard. The baby quieted and drifted off to sleep.
The woman gently stroked his fur. "Thank you. I don't know where you came from, but thank you."
God was looking down and witnessing the blessed events of His son's birthday. Heard only by the cat, God spoke.
"You have done a wonderful deed this night. Because you cared enough to help this woman, I will mark you and your offspring forever so that people will know what you have done. Her name is Mary and from this day forward you will have the letter "M" on your forehead." So when you see a cat with the tabby pattern (no matter if it's gray, brown, or some other color) look closely at its forehead and you will see the letter "M". By this you will know that it is a descendant of the cat that comforted the newborn Christ on that first Christmas night.
