What are current uses for cats?
This depends on what type of cat you have. If you have a mouser or a barnyard cat they are obviously good at mousing. If you have a pampered, stuck-up cat that eats real meat and you prepare a meal for it like you do your family, then they are good at spending your money. If you have a fat cat then they are good at laying around and covering your carpet with their hair and smell. If you have a loving, well brushed, well trained house cat then this cat should be very friendly and a good lap-sitter. All cats should love their masters--people--, or maybe all people should love their masters -- cats -- , I'm not sure which it is.

If its the newspaper you are reading in the morning, they are probably telling you to pay attention to them and not the paper. I had a cat who would not let you read the paper, would come up and plop right down on it and stare at you.

Many of these animals are kept by private individuals, zoos, and sanctuaries, but ownership laws differ significantly by state.
Do spayed cats pee around the house?
There are a couple of answers as to why cats urinate around the house. In no particular order: they mark their territory; especially if another cat lives or has lived in your home. They do it out of protest. If you leave them in the care of someone else and they miss you, you can count on urine spots and possibly even feces. My final answer is you need to change the litter box more frequently. Praise kitty for using it; but keep it well cleaned frequently.

A gray cat with white on its legs may either be a blue and white cat or a brown tabby and white cat. If there are no stripes, spots, or other markings on the gray color, then it is a blue and white. If there are stripes, spots, or other markings on the gray color, then the cat is a brown tabby and white.
Also if it has light orange/tan marks it could be a Dilute Calico.
How big do cats really grow?
Well it's simple when cats are born they are small. How big they grow depends on their genes. Domestic cats, especially moggies (cats with no discernible breed) can be very small or very large. A purebred cat is easier to guess how large the kitten will become once fully adult, as each breed has its own standard size and weight.
What is the life Expectancy for the American Eskimo Spitz?
We've had 3 American Eskimos (all female). They all lived to be 17+ yrs. Two of them were mother and daughter. The mother was pure-bred with papers. Her daughter was a cross with some kind of terrier, but we loved her the same. She was all-white with a few light, biscuit-cream spots. Her coat fully matured after she was 5+ yrs. She was also the runt of the litter.
Our third Eskie is a female with papers from Massachusetts. Her original owner was a young woman who got married and then decided she was unable to care for it even as a pup. So, she gave it to a friend in the Houston, TX area who advertised it for sale after she had been bred with a pure-bred male Eskie at less than 1 yr. She had a litter of at least four. Her birthday is 15 April 2006. We got her in early July 2008, which makes her now 6.5 yrs.
Eskies require much attention (lots !) and must be treated as an intimate family member. They love to be walked 2X a day and do well in the house, like cuddly toys, and interaction with all family members. They are highly territorial and are very intelligent. Definitely not the back-yard, seldom-seen animal. If that is what you want out of your pet dog, then DO NOT get an Eskie. If treated that way, they will either get ill and die or they will become wild. They do well even with children but have a loyalty to one person, maybe two, such as a husband and wife.
YES and NO.While cats cannot see in total darkness, they are able to see much better than humans in instances of reduced light.
The structure of the cat's eye permits superb vision in semi-darkness, but again, no animal is able to see in complete darkness because light is a necessary component of vision.
This article, written by veterinarians Drs. Foster and Smith, was the source for my answer and offers an excellent explanation:

How long between kitten births?
Female dogs go through a heat cycle, called estrus, every six months. She will have proestrus, or a bleeding cycle, before her true heat cycle during which she is very receptive to the advances of male dogs. This heat cycle lasts for several days up to three or four weeks. Here's more info.
Yes. Cats hunt largely by sight. Cats have far better night vision than humans do.
Yes; that is what a tabby is- a cat with stripes.
The term "Tabby" is not a breed of cat; it is coat pattern found on many cats, and can be found in several breeds.
Yes, "tabby" is the only coat pattern found in domestic cats that can have stripes. There are four basic types of tabby (ticked, mackerel, classic, spotted) with variations on each of these types, and the Mackerel pattern usually has stripes all over the body, whereas a Classic pattern usually just has stripes on the tail and legs, with swirls and blotched patterns on the flanks.
How much does a baby tabby cost?
A tabby cat is usually not a purebred cat, so could be free, or, very little money.
If you get a cat from an animal shelter or rescue agency, they will charge you a lot more, since they had the veterinarian examine the cat, and had to take care of it so they had costs to cover, but it would still be less money than getting a purebred cat. They would likely require you to get the cat neutered or spayed, and then they would give you some money back.

How many kittens can a calico cat have?
Cats can be so many different colors that it is hard to list.
There are gray cats, black cats, white cats, brown cats, golden cats, cream-colored cats, rose-colored cats, and even blue cats!
Then there are the cats that have mixtures, like the stripped tabby, the patched calico, or the torbie, a mixture of both.
Different breeds of cats can have even stranger patterns. For example, the Siamese and Himalayan breeds tend to be a cream color with darker patches on their face, ears, paws, and tail.
What happens when you breed a hairless cat with a short-haired cat?
This happened a couple of times with my cats, though they aren't purebreds. Either the kittens will have no tail, a normal tail, or even a "poof" tail that kind of resembles a rabbit's tail. (It's adorable!) --- Around half of the kittens will have normal tails, the other half may be a mix of no-tails and stumpy-tails.
dogs can never bark upside down because they can only bark when they are standing right side up!!!!!
