How does selling used CDs and DVDs on Amazon.compare to other sites like eBay and Half dot com in terms of seller's fees?

Amazon and half are approximately 15%. Amazon is 15% plus 0.85 per trasaction if you have a promerchant account. Half is approximately 15%. The exact amount depends on the amount of the transaction. Ebay has its listing fees and final value fee and a paypal fee. This is more difficult to determine because of the listing and relisting incurs variable fees. Perhaps somebody else could break it down better but i have to add that there are other factors to consider when evaluating the 3 marketplaces and other alternatives. Visit dvdhunt.com to get good feedback on the pros and cons on these sites.

Can you buy dog excrement on eBay?

Surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be anything mentioned about this in their "Prohibited and Restricted Items Policy" although the chances are that if any dog excrement were to be listed, the listing would no doubt very soon be removed. Excrement of any kind is prohibited and will not be carried by Royal Mail, unless as a properly packaged medical sample - no doubt most (if not all) shippers in every country also take this stance.

Why is eBay called eBay?

Popular legend tells us that Pierre Omidyar founded eBay to give his fiancee a place to buy and sell the PEZ dispensers she loved so much. Many have speculated since that the story was just that... a simple story put out by marketers to make eBay seem more interesting.

In a 2010 TechCrunch interview, Omidyar admits his wife's lover for collecting helped him gain insight as he built eBay, but it was not his reason for starting the site in the first place. Omidyar simply wanted to create a "perfect market," and so he founded the then-called AuctionWeb auction site as a side project in 1995.

Does it cost to use eBay?

How do you undo a revision that you've made to your item listing on eBay?

There is no "unrevise" option. The only way to change your listing back to the way it was before you revised, is to revise again and make the change manually. The only exception to this is if you use the "Turbo Lister" to create your listing and then make the revision once your auction has gone live. If you use this listing tool, your original information is retained on your computer until you change it there, and you can revert to that at anytime.

You bought Kodak c330 camera from eBay but when you turn it on it says lens error 14 can you help me?

You will have to contact the seller you bought it from, or open a dispute with paypal if the payment method you used. You should do it right away.

How do you return something that you bought from eBay?

It depends. Firstly, you need to look at the listing from which you bought the item. Some sellers will not accept returns so if the listing says that, you are normally unable to return the item to the seller. If the listing says that the seller does accept returns, contact the seller for instructions. Should there be a problem with the item when it arrives in that it is "significantly not as described" and you paid for it using PayPal, you can log into your PayPal account and start a dispute. The steps are fully explained after you log into your PayPal account and go to the Resolution Centre, but in essence, you start the dispute and then the seller has the opportunity to correct the situation. If you can't come to an agreement with the seller, escalate the dispute to a claim and at this point, PayPal will step in and decide the outcome.

How do you add the buy it now option on eBay?

The option is there when you create (or revise) your listing. You need at least 10 feedback to add 'buy it now' so if you don't see the option, it may be that you don't have enough feedback.

How much does eBay get from a 40 dollar sale?

There is no fixed answer to this question.

The insertion fee that you will be charged depends on the "start price" that you choose for your item. If you select any upgrades you will be charged more fees for using those. Generally speaking, you will then be charged around 10% of the sale price as a "final value fee" unless your item was listed in the Motors section (this has it's own separate fee structure). PayPal will charge you around another 3.4% of the total money that you take, including the shipping and handling cost.

To work it out for yourself you need to go to the help section on the eBay site that you use to create your listing and search for "fees".

How can eBay BUYERS BE PROTECTED FROM false advertising?

Its Buyer beware - Know what you are buying ....Know the below statements are my opinion based on over 25 years in the Gold Leaf Trade.Example: Fairtrader60 is selling Gold Leaf Flake and in the item description they state "This gold leaf flake is cut by a leafing company from scrap metals that contain trace amounts of Real Gold"

The "trace amounts of Real Gold" is false advertising. There is not a leaf company in the world that is mixing up their genuine metals with there fake metals. Get with it - genuine gold is $1600.00+ an ounce or 31.10 grams. Do you think the leaf company will use a shop vac to clean up?

If you are buying a ounce of gold for $29.95, its not Real nor dose it have "trace amounts of Real Gold" in it.

I just purchased some software and before I purchased it I contacted the selling and asked "Is your item from the manufacture and will I be able to register it on their website"

AND ALWAYS USE PayPal.

Never go off eBay to complete a purchase. Do I need to cover Money Orders and Western Union - Simple answer Don't use them to pay for anything.

I want to buy a cell phone on eBay but I don't know if it will work with my service provider Cellular One so how will I know if it will work when I receive my cell phone?

Most modern cell phones will work on most any network. The best way to find out is to ask a representative of your service provider.

The young men and women who staff the phone centers, and the ones who are just a phone call away are trained to answer questions like this. Remember that as a service customer, they work for you, and they should immediately step up and help. Certainly they'd prefer to sell you a phone - it's their job. But they are also obligated to assist and help you (with a smile!) find out about connectivity of another phone to their (your!) service. Lots of people bring a phone to their current service provider and get it "hooked up". This is done best by going to a phone center where they can scan the phone and make all the connections via the computer tied to their network server.

Take a model number of a phone you are considering and call your provider and just ask them if it's "connectable" to their (your) service. You should be able to get immediate answers.

You will need to call the call center and ask them for the specifics...obviously the phone you purchase from eBay will have to be unlocked and accept a SIM card...but it will also have to have a specific bandwidth in order for the phone to work where you are at specifically.... make sure you ask what bandwidth the phone will need to have

Different Types of Cell Phones on the basis of SIM

  • GSM Phone (SIM Type)
  • CDMA Phone (SIM Type)
  • 2 G Phone (Service Type)
  • 3 G Phone (Service Type)
  • 4 G Phone (Service Type)
  • Standard size SIM Phone (SIM Type)
  • Mirco SIM Phone (SIM Type)

it is very bad. I downloaded iminent without knowing and it put a virus on my PC. If you have this virus, it will not act as a virus, but over time, your things will develop more ads, YouTube videos will be covered with ads, your computer will act slower, and you will be spammed with stuff that just gives you anther toolbar. You also get various animations and emoticons, but that isn't even good. yes, it is bad.

You bought a purse on eBay for your daughter and it has Burberrys and she told you that it was fake because it should not have an s at the end. is it?

Yes most likely it's fake. Nearly 99% of all brand name items on eBay are fake. And no, Burberry does not have an S at the end.

True, most items on Ebay are fake, however all Burberry items prior to 1999 had the "s" at the end and show Burberrys. After 1999 they began marketing their items as Burberry. In Japan Burberry has a more affordable line of products that say Burberrys. When China began manufacturing some Burberry items in 2006 some of the accessories were made with the Burberrys logo.
