How to find resistance?

-- Apply a small, known voltage between the terminals of the device.

-- Measure the current through the device with the voltage applied.

-- Calculate the resistance of the device. It's (voltage) divided by (current).

What is ELSP?

An ELSP is a current limiting fuse used in series with the primary fuse of a transformer.

When does a divided reference occur?

A divided (unclear) reference occurs when there are two or more nouns in a sentence that a pronoun could refer to.

Example:

"His mother and his sister were arguing over how late she could stay out at night."

What is the filament in lights?

Filament is a thin part of incandescent bulb which is the source of electric light that electric current passes through and heated it until it produce light.

Is sugar solution a good conductor?

no salt solution is the conductor of electricity as sugar doesn't have as great an ionization as table salt

What will happen if two phase supply given to the single phase motor?

Two phase is single phase for today's purposes. We generally do not call 240v single phase "two phase" anymore, although technically that's what it is. 240v two phase has power to both lines to the motor versus 120v single phase has one power line and a neutral. Fortunately most single phase motors today are dual voltage. So check your nameplate data of the motor for guidance. The use of proper motor protection will prevent any damage to motors if wrong voltages are inadvertantly applied.

Comment

A two-phase system is an archic system, in which two phase voltages are displaced from each other by 90 electrical degrees. Like three-phase, it had the advantage of producing a naturally-rotating magnetic field, so could drive induction motors without any need for a starting capacitor.

What is the ampacity of a 10-2 NM-B cable?

Allowable ampacity for 10-2 copper NM-B is 30 A.

Why do electricity power lines buzz?

You're hearing the ionisation effect of the surrounding molecules in the magnetic field. You'll hear it worse when its raining.

Must wires be connected to breaker box?

It should be connected to circuit breaker. Circuit breaker will automatically discontinue the flow of electricity if it detects faulty condition.

What the difference between 10-2 wire and 10-3?

The first number indicates the size of the wires, in this case #10 AWG (American Wire Gauge). The last number refers to the quantity of conductors, excluding the ground wire, if any. 10-2 wire would have two conductors, typically a black used for the hot, and a white used for the neutral. If the label says "10-2 with ground" then the cable would also contain a bare or green insulated ground wire. 10-3 wire contains all the above plus one more wire, typically red, used for an additional hot.

What is 50VA?

50 VA means about 50 watts. Transformers usually use VA instead of watts because a transformer has very little wasted power, and watts measure power. A 50 va transformer that is 120v. on the primary side will use about .41 amps at 120 volts. On the secondary side, (if it's 24 volts) it will support about 2.08 amps.

What is VDE in electrical safety?

VDE is the acronym for the full German name of what is known in English as the German Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies.

What do you do with extra wires to a light fixture?

Extra wires to a light fixture are dangerous. It can cause electrical shock when having contact to people therefore it must be guarded to avoid physical contact.

How much does it cost to operate a 1000 watt mercury vapor light?

The same as it costs to operate any 1000 watt device or combination thereof. Your electrical bill is rated in kwh or kilowatt hours. (A kilowatt happens to be 1000 watts per hour). So if your local rate is say 8.5 cents per kwh ( a typical amount ) then it will cost 8.5 cents per hour ( plus tax & service fees, etc.!) Check your electric bill and find out your exact per kilowatt/hour rate. Since this type fixture is a commercial fixture, your rate may be a higher commercial rate than most residences.

Did the police use taser or similar weapon in 1950 or in 1960?

As far as we know, police only used guns or batons, back then...

What is the major difference between static and dynamic stretching?

When you hold a stretch for an extended period, then you are performing a static stretch. Dynamic stretching is an active stretching routine that has you slowly moving through motions to increase your heart rate, raise your body temperature and send extra blood to your muscles.

Is lead a good insulator of electricity?

No. Lead is conductive, but not very. The conductivity of lead is only 8.35% that of copper. However, that's still extremely conductive compared to materials that are usually considered good insulators, such as glass.

Does fire attract lightning?

Fire does not attract lightning. These two things are different sources of energy and are not proven to attract each other.

How might drill help turn recruits into soldiers?

Drill can help turn recruits into soldiers by training them and testing them from being a soldier and by observing them what they can do
