Adult Male Elephants have the longest and largest tusks of all elephant species. The tusks grow around 18 cm every year. African Elephants have a much larger tusk than their Asian counterparts. They can grow to upto 3 meters in length. They can weigh around 90 kilograms or so. The asian elephant tusts are much smaller and weigh around 40 kilos. The Tusk is nothing but a teeth that has grown out of the skull. Just like a human teeth, it is made of calcium and other minerals. It is used as a display of size and strength and sometimes during fights or to bring down a tree while feeding. Females usually have a very small tusk or no tusk at all.

When this accidently happened, they wrote the following scenes about "rescueing" and recovering of the indian in the script and filmed it after Bruce Cabots return from the hospital. No. Elephants do not mate for life. Whenever a female is in heat, adult males from nearby areas come to mate with her. Male elephants fight for mating rights and usually the older & stronger bulls get a chance to mate by overpowering the younger ones. Once the mating is over, both parties go their own ways. The chances of the same male mating again with the same female are very slim.
