What does Don Colgan have to do with cloning an extinct tiger?
The Australian Museum's head of evolutionary biology, Dr Don Colgan is leading a team of scientists in an attempt to bring the Tasmanian Tiger back from extinction.
Dr Colgan led the team in extracting fragments of DNA from the body of a preserved Tasmanian Tiger pup which had been preserved in alcohol 137 years ago.
The next step should be to attempt to tease whole chromosomes from the fragmentary bits of DNA salvaged from the preserved pup.
Dr Colgan has already stated that this attempt (at its present funding) only has an eight to ten percent chance of success.
What is dried human plasma and human serum?
Dried human plasma and human serum is prepared by freeze-drying or by other methods that will avoid denaturation of the proteins. This will yield a product readily soluble in a quantity of water equal to the volume of liquid plasma and human serum.
What species are extinct in last 100 years and what are their causes of extinction?
Well i am sure most of the cat family is going extinct, but have not yet. While I am on the subject people need to save tigers and other cats in the world that are dying out. It is people that are killing their kind, what if you were the tiger and they were the one killing us, how would you feel about that. How would you feel if you were the one in the cage, or being separated from your family. What if your child can't even go to the zoo and see the wonderful animals like tigers, cheetahs, bob cats, mountain lions, or can't even have a house cat like you have at home with you right now, just think one after another, soon all cats and other animals will be gone. SO GO OUT AND FIGHT FOR THE RIGHTS THAT THESE ANIMALS HAVE....
The dire wolf is not doing any running these days as it has been extinct for over 10,000 years. We have no record of how fast they were able to run.
Who disappeared during the last mass extinction?
Notable extinctions during the last mass extinction included all non-avian dinosaurs, pterosaurs, plesiosaurs, and ammonites.
I am not entirely sure whether you want to know what causes a species to become extinct, or what the term extinction means. I will reply to both. There are lots of things that can wipe out a species, including loss of habitat (they live in a swamp, let us say, but people are draining the swamps to make room for new housing projects), or disease, predation, pollution, or any combination of these or other causes (dinosaurs were probably killed by a large meteor or comet striking the Earth and disrupting the global climate). And the meaning of extinction is simply that the species no longer exists; all members have died out.

What evidence suggests that dinosaurs were endothermic?
As far as the largest ones are concerned, their size implies need for great amounds of energy, which means they had to eat a lot. Ectothermic animals don't need enough food, because they produce their energy utilizing the heat of the sun. This way, however, the bigger an animal gets, the more time it takes to generate heat and this may cost its own life, because in the meanwhile other smaller predatory animals have become active and threatening. The largest dinosars had to be endothermic, in order to, at least, stay alive. Some smaller dinosaurs, like Leaellynasaura, have been discovered to have lived in low latitudes near the Antarctic circle, which means they had to be endothermic to stand the climatic conditions. Even more, some small theropods present skeletal characteristics, like V-shaped bone of the chest (Velociraptor), which connects them with birds. Their 3-digit forelimbs, 4-digit long and erect hindlimbs (built for speed) , the structure of metacarpal and their respiratory system are also signs which imply connection with birds and some theropods from China (Sinosauropteryx, Sinornithosaurus etc) even present signs of feathers or proto-feathers. Since feathers imply ability of thermoregulation and, thus, high metabolic rate, scientists believe that some dinosaurs, if not all, eventually became endothermic, even if they had evolved from ectothermic ancestors. The evolutionary connection between dinosaur and endothermic birds is also implied by the discovery that early birds had a snout filled with teeth, long bony tale and digits on front limbs (wings), as well as scaly theropod legs.

What are baps why did baps kill the mammoths?
Mammoths had a very different digestive system than the Scots, who eat baps as breakfast rolls. Overconsumption of refined flours caused excessive growth of noxious bacteria in the rumen, resulting in degradation of the intestinal lining and eventual mammoth explosions. If you would like to make your own baps, here is a recipe:
"Take about a pound of flour, and rub into it a pap spoonfull of butter and then add as much Milk as will make it into a very thick Batter then put it into a marble Mortar and beat it till 'tis quite light drop it upon tin Sheets (about a large spoonfull in a drop) and bake them. There are to be split and butter'd. N.B. the Butter should be rub'd in the flour till you can't feel the Butter." (The receipt book of Harriott Pinckney Horry, 1770) Do not feed to mammoths.
