What are the aims in giving first aid?
There are three main aims of first aid, often called the three P's:
[to]
1. Preserve life
2. Prevent injuries from becoming worse
3. Promote recover
What are the signs and symptoms of electrocution?
The victim of an electrocution will be Unconscious, in Respiratory and Cardiac Arrest and have two burn wounds, the entrance and exit wound of the electricity. =The treatment for electrocution is CPR.==It is safe to touch a patient as long as the patient is NOT connected to the power source.=
For which injuries would the RICE procedure be used?
Sprains, strain's, and most any muscular injury.
What position should you place a victim with adominal wound?
They should be placed on there back. (The supine position)
What do you do if someone collapses?
Check their level of responsiveness. Shout "hey can you hear me?" and squeeze their shoulder. No response then send someone to call 911 IMMEDIATELY while you begin chest compressions.
The 2010 American Heart Association CPR guidelines state C-A-B (Circulation, Airway, Breathing) as the most important. This differs from regular first aid in which the order is A-B-C. Research has shown that immediate compressions are beneficial and can deliver oxygen to the brain.
If you DON'T have a CPR Mask DO NOT do rescue breaths (unless its a family member). The risk of infection is too great. Continue with compression only CPR until help arrives.
If you are by yourself, stop CPR after 2 minutes and go call 911.
I strongly recommend you take a first aid or CPR course.
What first aid should be used with an eye injury or splash of Bleach?
If there is an outside object in the eye or stuck to the eye, it needs to get taken out. With clean hands, gently move the object to the front of the eye and try to get it out by moving or pinching the eyelid. After removing the object (if possible) rinse the eye with room temperature water. the water should come very gently not to put a lot of pressure onto the eye. In case of bleach getting into the eye, do not rub it, but immediately rinse it just as I have said above.
How do you cover up a lovebite?
A turtleneck or a scarf is traditional. If it were mine, I'd paint a little makeup on it (cover-up stick, probably) out of modesty, just enough to pretend I was hiding it, and go ahead and let it show. My kids are old enough to deal with it.
But if there are parents in the picture and discretion is indicated, try the high collar. And next time make visible areas off limits.
How will you help a person with a fractured bone?
You splint it and go to hospital for medical treatment as soon as possible.
When should Rescue breathing be given to an infant?
* If he is unconscious. * If breathing is at an abnormal rate (higher or lower than the proper rate).
Can an electric shock cause loss of consciousness?
Yes it can. It depends on the amount of voltage that you got shocked with.
Electric shock can put the heart into asystole (absence of heart contractions). The heart will often resume its rhythm, but the accomanying respiratory arrest lasts longer, and can then lead to a second cardiac arrest due to lack of oxygen.
Also, all electrical burns are considered to be worse than look externally (they can burn internally as well).
Why is a second degree burn more serious than a first degree burn?
It's very hard to immobilize the hand completely to allow for prompt healing, which is so important with more than a 1st degree burn in that they infect very easily. A burn on the thigh, however, is often not mobile anyway, so allowing the tissues to remain unstressed and unmoved presents no problem at all.
What is required before privileged communications can be told to anyone else?
After signing the initial HIPAA privacy compliance forms, they have to sign a consent form for information to be shared with other healthcare providers or individuals, and they have to name the specific parties that info is to be shared with.
Is there a way to heal a cut over night?
No there is not.
Perspective...It depends on the size of the cut, where is it, how deep, etc. Very small, clean cuts in fast growing tissue can indeed heal overnight. However, this isn't the norm, as lacerations this small are most often not even detected. Why do you raise the feet 12 inches for a person in shock?
Shock is a state in which the body is experiencing a lack of blood flow, either due to blood loss, infection, cardiac arrest or failure, or spinal injuries. Consequently, the body's natural response is to decrease blood flow to the extremities and send it to the internal organs, which can result in not enough blood going to the brain, resulting in brain damage. Raising the victim's feet helps encourage blood flow to the brain (and other vital areas.) One's legs can go much longer with less oxygen than one's brain can.
What should you do if you swallow a maggot?
I would imagine the bile your gallbladder makes would kill all the bacteria and the maggot itself, then it would just pass through your system. I would not recommend drinking a lot of fluids because that would dilute the bile that is taking care of the bacteria. So, the answer is actually don't do anything.
Why do you elevate a wound above your heart?
This is not always the case - common sense needs to tell you what position the victim should be in based on where the wound is. Most of the time it is wounds to limbs that this is used for. A severed artery or major vein can bleed out quickly and with little or no blood left in the body you want as much as possible in the heart to pump to the brain and core. It is more important to stop the bleeding either by applying pressure directly to the wound or a pressure point between the heart and the wound. An example is the large artery under the arm (right in the armpit) than can stop even a severed hand from bleeding out by applying pressure under the arm. I have seen a tennis ball placed under the armpit and the arm pushed up against the body to stop a severed lower arm from bleeding out.
* A warm, wet cloth, placed gently over the closed eye and repeated periodically, can help reduce swelling and relieve some of the discomfort.
* I think that I have discovered a home remedy for styes! I seem to get them a lot as I am a woman who wears eyeliner.
I read on the Internet that a buffered saline solution cures pinkeye (I tried it, and it does). And I was wondering if it would help a stye also. I took the cap off a small bottle of mouthwash (clean of course), filled it halfway with saline solution and let my eye sit in the solution about 3 times before I went to bed. Immediately the stye started to drain and was almost gone by the next morning.
* Sometimes you can put a warm herbal tea bag on your eye.

How much does the average person spend on toiletries per month?
The average monthly cost of personal hygiene items for women depends entirely on what products are used - for example tampons would be a regular monthly cost, verses menstrual cups which are only bought once and last for up to a decade. It also depends on what you count under 'personal hygiene items' - just menstrual products, or do you also count medications and cleansers?
Typically tampons alone (not counting multiple absorbencies needed, the pads that also should be used with tampon use such as overnight, or that some women may also use pads as back-up) will cost around $6.10 per month. Typically menstrual pads alone will be $4.27 per month. Menstrual cups alone will be $0.27 per month: remembering menstrual cups are only bought once in a decade so this price would be the average cost of one menstrual cup spread-out over ten years.
