Should you take the Claw fossil or the fossil at the mirage tower on Pokemon emerald?

It really depends on which Pokemon you prefer, Anorith or Lileep. Anorith is the Claw Fossil, whilst Lileep is the Root Fossil. They evolve into Armaldo and Cradily respectively, each at Lv 40.

To help you make up your mind, I'll list the differences between the two evolved Pokemon.

Armaldo is an offensive Pokemon with very high Attack and great Defence. However, it's as slow as dirt and is rather weak on the Special side. It also doesn't learn a great deal of good Level-up moves, although it makes up for it with the offensive TMs it can learn. It's a Rock/Bug type.

Cradily is a defensive Pokemon with good Defence and Sp Defence (although Armaldo's Defence is higher) and decent Attacking stats, considering that it's main function is as a wall. Is also as slow as dirt, but due to its function a wall so it doesn't matter as much. Has a good defensive movepool but a bad attacking movepool, especially without TMs or tutors (the highest BP move it learns that doesn't charge is AncientPower, a measly 60). It's a Rock/Grass type.

Really, the choice depends on which Pokemon better fits your team. You can get the other fossil after the Elite Four anyway at the Desert Underpass; the entrance of which can be found in the back of the Ruin Maniac's house on Route 114.

How can fossil evidence be used to support the idea the at all the contents were once connected?

Since you see the same fossils from on continent to another, it proves that all the continents were once connected.

Let's say one fossil of a small animal is found on one continent, and on another far away, such as Antarctica and Africa. It would be impossible for the small animal to swim from Antarctica to Africa or Africa to Antarctica because it is a small animal, after all. Plus, it might not be a sea animal (let's say it's not for this scenario, so that we can prove that all the continents were once connected).

Therefore, you can say that they were all once connected since the fossils of this small land animal were found in Antarctica and Africa, and it would have been impossible for it to get across if the continents weren't connected. So, since the continents were connected before, this small land animal could easily walk over from Antarctica to Africa or Africa to Antarctica.

This just supports the idea that all the continents were once connected. There are more facts to go into it, such as how all the continents somewhat fit together like a puzzle.

Hope I helped :)

A dinosaur footprint is considered a trace fossil because it is evidence of the animal's activity, rather than a physical part of the actual dinosaur's body. Trace fossils provide information about the behavior and movements of ancient organisms.
