What does the deer do when the fox is about to attack?

Foxes are quite small animals (the smallest of the dog family) and feed on even smaller prey such as mice, rabbits and insects. They will also eat fruit and carrion.

Considering their small size, it is unlikely a fox would attempt an attack on a full grown deer - and would probably lose if it did - but it is said they will attack a fawn. If so, I imagine the fawn would attempt to run, but I cannot say for sure. Also, if the doe were nearby, the fox would likely go away hungry, with its tail between its legs.

How can you train a fox to be a pet?

It's generally inadvisable to own a fox as a pet - they're smelly, not very clean, and they need lots of free space to be happy. Foxes are darn cute though, so it's obvious why so many folks want to have one as a pet!

If you're looking for a red fox, it turns out it's pretty hard to get one to own as a pet. A common alternative to the red fox however, is a fennec fox. These foxes make pretty decent pets, and they're not so uncommon.

If you're interested in learning how to care for a fennec fox, you can check out this nice website: http://www.juliesjungle.com/fennecfox.php

This is only my opinion, but I feel like I should say this anyway: there are a lot of wonderful dogs (and cats!) in this world that need good homes, too! Corgis even look quite a bit like foxes and make great pets. Consider heading down to your local animal shelter and checking out their pooches - there may just be a foxy dog waiting there to win your heart! =)
