Do gerbils eat plastic?

Gerbils will CHEW and EAT anything and everything they will get their claws on! But if you're worried about them eating a plastic cage they might be in, dont worry they wont, just keep any bags or things that they might be able to get on through the bars, away from the cage or else they will chew it to pieces! :) Best of all is to get a glass bottom cage with a metal top, this enables you to see their runs if they do them on the inside, but also purely because they are the easiest to clean and dont take up too much room whilst also providing them with plenty of room, Here is a link to the cage i had and it lasted me for 5 years and never once did i have a fault with it.

Can you perform opera while singing into a hose and peeing on a gerbil?

First of all, yes. You can sing opera into a hose while peeing on a gerbil. But why would you want to do that? I mean, I can understand why you would want to sing opera (not really), but singing into a hose? SERIOUSLY? And even worse, peeing on a gerbil at the same time? WHY WOULD YOU PEE ON A GERBIL? WHAT KIND OF CREATURE ARE YOU!?

How much time does it take to tame gerbils?

It depends on the gerbil.

You see, every gerbil is different, just like every human-being is different. If you work hard every single day, it won't take long. If you do not train him much, it might take awhile. If your gerbil is stubborn, it will take a long while.

We're different. So are gerbils.

It's not recommended because gerbils love to burrow and it gets in their eyes they should have wood shavings that are not pine or cedar as they cause respiratory problems and not sawdust because it gets in their eyes you can use sand in a sand bath which is a little box and you put a bit of sand in so they can wash themselves but not as the main covering or bedding.

Are gerbils aggressive?

Gerbils are NOT agressive! I have two gerbils of my own and they are the friendliest animals I have ever met. Also I heard that gerbils are the friendliest rodent and they do make a great first pet. The only time gerbils will bite is if you dont handle him/her enough, or if you are doing something that they dont like. For example, if you hold them for too long and he/her is trying to get out of your hand like crazy and you wont let the gerbil out it may bite. But out of everything gerbils are NOT agressive!
Not at all as long as you are gentle. I have 7 adults and 6 babies at the moment and none are aggressive with me.

Where can you buy Mongolian gerbil?

I know what you're thinking;'I'll just go to a pet store'. Please don't! Pet stores often sell gerbils that have genetic deficiencies and some places (not all) mistreat them and don't provide them with proper care. They might even sell them with the intentions of selling them for snake food! The best bet for the best pet is to go to a breeder like myself. They can track the genetic history of gerbils to genetically healthy parents, and possibly grandparents. They take good care of them and have a good, steady supply. You can go to Google and type in 'gerbil breeders' and you are sure to find some breeder's websites. Also, the gerbil forum has a list of member websites, most of them belonging to breeders. To get to the gerbil forum, just type in 'the gerbil forum' on Google. Best of luck!

How can you tell a gerbil from a male to a female?

if you look at the back end of you gerbil, you can tell by how close the hole is to the tail. you will have to ask a vet, breeder or local pet store for a definite answer. DO NOT TRY TO GUESS YOURDELF, IT IS HARD AND IF YOU GET IT WRONG YOU COULD END UP WITH (UP TO) 13 BABIES.You can sometimes tell by the eyes. Usually the girls eyes are reddish in color and the males is a blackish in color. If that isn't true then ask a pet store owner what one has had babies, also called pups. They should give an answer on what one has. Don't try to figure it out yourself. Another way to tell is by color. The male will be darker in color and the female will be lighter in color. I have 2 gerbils. The female is white with red eyes and the male is dark brown with black eyes. Those are 2 ways that I know of. If my answers don't hold true then check out a book about gerbils and it should give descriptions on them. It also depends on what breed of gerbil you have to though.

Given that gerbils reproduce sexually, as do all mammals and indeed most animals... won't the male have a penis, albeit usually concealed by fur? It is better though, unless you have a lot of experience in handling small animals, to ask an expert such as the breeder or a vet, as the first answer advises.
