It's strong enough for 'recreational' purposes. If I want to glue wood permanently, I use TiteBond ll yellow glue.

If you mean wooden stair treads the answer is yes. Use a good pva glue ;don't use glue that is over a year old it loses its strength with age; people don't get told this. For more info i would need the type of stair open or closed string.

If it has a timber floor under and vinyl is solid to the floor and not to thick screw down 10 mm ply at 150mm centres. seal ply with pva sealer prior too tilling. If it is a concrete floor it is best to lift vinyl.

I try these tests every so often and glue 3-4 similar objects with the different glues, clamp them and leave to dry for a week. I haven't really found a scientific way to test the strength, simply put the joints in a vice and try to pull them apart. I get a reasonable idea of how good they are, but am still looking for a better way to actually measure strength.

I'm sure opinions vary, but I consider Aleene's tacky glue a medium strength glue which has it's uses. I have over 30 kinds of glues at the moment and always try to use the most appropriate one.

You would have to be crazy to do this. Go to your local hardware store and buy connectors made for the purpose. Only make connections inside an electric box, not just at random places in a cable. Make sure to turn off power before doing this. Both wire nuts and push type connectors are available in any hardware store.

If wires are lower current in an appliance or devise you may be able to solder and tape or use heat shrink tubing.
