Goldfish

Well it is a very good idea to have a lot of variety in your goldfish's diet. I feed my goldfish a combo of flakes and pellets (the pellets are available at the link posted below) and that seems to work very well. Along with the flakes and pellets I like to treat my goldfish with any of the following: freeze-dried krill, freeze-dried tubi-fex worms, live or freeze-dried brine shrimp, frozen daphnia, freeze dried or frozen bloodworms,(another option is to cultivate your own mosquito larva at your home by laying out a shallow dish of water, also another option is to feed your goldfish cleaned/chopped up earthworm). Since goldfish are omnivoures they also enjoy fresh fruits and veggies: watermellon, orange slices,bannana, deshelled green peas, and spinach. Goldfish will also like being able to do some natural grazing in your aquarium if you are willing to grow duckweed and elodea. Hope this helps :)

if your fish appears to be scratching itself against other objects, or keeping to the corner, chances are that is is infected with "ick." it is also known as Ichthyophthirius. another sign of ick is that small white specks are visible on the body of the fish. it can also be visible on the fins. since ick is a parasite, it is easily cured by ick treatment that can be found in pet stores. this is a fairly common situation.

It is NOT very right to keep a goldfish in a bowl. Not only do they become bored and unhappy, but it can cause health problems and stunt the fish's growth. However, the VERY least you can do for a fish in a bowl is the biggest bowl you can find. Also, goldfish NEED some sort of filter to live a reasonable amount of years, and filters cannot be put in bowls. I recommend at least a 5 gallon tank for your fish. Really though, there is nothing special you can do for a fish in a bowl.

If you're talking about how many baby fish goldfish have, they can have up to 100 eggs(babies), but only about 20-30 will live. The way you can tell which ones are dead and which ones are not is that the ones that are alive are clear, and the ones that are dead are not clear like the live eggs. Hoped that helped.

Its stomach will grow a little in size if you have multiple compare them roughly

Possibly in order to defend themselves. Normally it's the other way around. If the fry are small enough, goldfish will eat them. Either that, or the babies are naturally aggressive towards the bigger goldfish.

Fish do not need air they need Oxygen which is a component of air. Nature always tries to balance things out so the surface of the water (meniscus) allows the transfer of gases. CO2 goes out into the air above and O is absorbed by the water. Plants also make Oxygen and use up Carbon dioxide. The fish have gills in which the membranes do the same thing as our lungs.

It really depends on the type of fish. Most fish though, have a certain mouth design that allows the mouth to pop open extremely quickly, creating negative pressure in the mouth, and causing whatever is near the mouth to be instantly sucked in. Once the food is in the mouth, it is pushed down to the stomach by muscular contractions.

I've got a tank of my own and all my fish get on well.

In my tank I've got:

1 Leopard danio

1 Siamese fighter(male)

2 Platies

2 Sword tails

1 Polkadot loach

3 Cherry barbs

Provided the tank is large enough you can put almost any fish with a Male Betta. They will only fight another male of the same species. They do not fight with other species at all. 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water. That is the limiting factor. 1 Betta should be housed in a minimum of 3 gallons of water.

Flushing your fish down the toilet is not only cruel and inhumane, but it is also illegal. Flushed fish can survive for hours or even days exposed to horrific conditions and toxic water quality. Flushing sick fish can also contaminate your local water shed with aquatic diseases. This method is never appropriate.
