When a Goldfish dies in one's pond what happens to the body?

It breaks down into its natural bits and pieces. Dust to dust, ashes to ashes. Nature looks after the cleanup job when something dies.

What are important things to know about your goldfish?

Goldfish are really pond fish. They need plenty of room to swim and grow in. A goldfish will never do well in a bowl. All fish need at least 1 gallon of water per 1 inch of fish. This water needs to be filtered properly and kept clean. It also needs to be changed regularly. Goldfish are omnivorous so they need some protein in their diet in addition to the stuff sold as goldfish food in pet shops. Feed them at least morning and evening. Never ever let food go rotten in the water. The main thing to remember is that water to a fish is the same as air is to us. If it is bad or dirty it will make us/them sick. If it is really bad or dirty it will kill us/them. So look after their water conditions and they should be OK provided they get properly fed.

How long will a pond goldfish stay with her eggs?

Goldfish will start to eat their eggs once they have finished spawning them. They do not look after their eggs at all.

No; goldfish have bilateral symmetry.

How big of a tank do you have to have for a Betta fish?

One Is NOT the Loneliest NumberNo tank size is "best". Unfortunately, no matter how much you love those beautiful betas, one is definitely NOT the loneliest number for these guys.

Whether male or female, ALL BETAS SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO FIGHT. Betas are highly aggressive with one another, and are very territorial. A period of mating is not an exception, and can still result in an injured fish.

As a general rule, one beta will be healthier NOT sharing its life with another beta. Forcing two betas to share an environment may result in severe and even life-threatening injuries.

No matter how large the tank, eventually the betas will inevitably find their way into the same area, and when they do, you'll have Mortal Kombat 3 in your fish tank.

Moreover, even if they merely saw one another from far, far, opposite sides of the tank, it's extremely (VERY!) likely that at least one of the two betas (if not both) would actually find the other enough of a threat to put itself immediately into the other's space and engage in aggressive activity.

If you're asking because you really want to own more than one beta, there are other solutions that are slightly preferrable (although some may still be somewhat upsetting to the betas).

If you really, really just want more betas, the best solution is to buy those small plastic containers sold at places like Petsmart, containers that are meant for betas; the single-celled containers are a less stressful environment for the betas, because you can separate them so they won't antagonize each other.

However, stores also sell larger containers with a divider in the middle, which leaves room for two betas.

Large glass fish bowls are also a novel idea, because they have plenty of room for pretty rocks, air pumps, castles, and the like.

If your main concern is about your beta's happiness or you wonder whether it is lonely, ask me for more information about things you can add to a beta's tank for recreation (such as an air pump, live plants, structures to hide in, etc.). There are quite a few things that can very much add to your beta's quality of life.

What happens if you feed a goldfish beta food?

never put a male betta in with any other fish, he will kill them. females are much friendlyer than males but if a gold fish starts nipping at her fins remove her . she wil fight back and most likely kill them or injur them badly.

Can a goldfish survive in a tank of human blood?

A fish could actually live in a bowl of human blood as the blood of human's and the pH level of normal water is close enough together to not endanger the fish. You would also have to have oxygen in blood, which is very possible because red blood cells have hemoglobin, which can take up to four oxygen molecules on it, two on each side. As long as the temperature is pretty much the same as what the fish needs to live in, the fish can easily live in a bowl of human blood. But that is very sick if any one tries that, to use that much blood, and actually stick a fish in it is just unnatural

How long does it take for a goldfish to mature?

It takes 2 or 3 months for a houshold pet goldfish to mature, you can tell if it's a female by that time because they will have some white speckles on their lower fins. Plus, though the common goldfish lives for about 2 days in a bowl, but if you get a 10 gallon tank for it and feed it every morning and night until it's mature, then once a day when it's mature, it can live for a long time; I had a goldfish that I cared for ( the pet goldfish not pond goldfish), and it lived for 9 years! ( It just died :( ) But look for red and/or white spots, split fins, or enlarged eyes as these can be deadly but simply buying medicine from the pet store will save your pets life.

Is it bad if a goldfish has red on it's fins?

no it means that there very poorly and need lots of attention or flushed down the toilet

How do you know when fish are about to lay eggs or have babies?

How do you treat Ick diseases on goldfish?

Visible tiny white spots anywhere on the fishes body are indicators of white spot. (Ich)They can often be seen scratching themselves against the gravel and other things in the tank. Can you keep triops with tropical fish?

I have tried, and it doesn't seem to work very well. The triops usually get sucked into filters, or eaten/picked at by the fish. That doesn't mean you cant, it just means that the way I tried it did not work. If you kept them with very small fish, in a tank with a sponge filter (where they cant get sucked up), that might work better.

How many saltwater fish can a 150 gallon fish tank hold?

The rule is 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water. A tank usually has an inch or two of gravel at the bottom and is usually filled to within an inch of the top so if the tank is 12 inches deep approximately one quarter of it is not holding water. Now in your case you would be lucky if your 15 gallon tank is holding 12 gallons. So doing the simple addition it looks as if you could have up to 12 inches of fish in there. So any combination will make it up ie 1 x 12 inch fish, 2 x 6 inch fish, all the way down/up to 12 x 1 inch fish.

Do fish drink air?

.............what? please make it more spesific. ill try tho: fish take in dissolved air pariticles in the water through there gills.

What makes a fish swim fast?

1. Strong muscles

  • The large muscles have a high myoglobin content leading to a higher supply of oxygen to supply the high energy demand
  • The rete mirabile elevates the tunas body temperature and muscles can contract three times faster than in other fish

2. Oxygen supply for the muscles

  • The large gills increase the oxygen supply
  • The gills extract high amounts of oxygen from the water due to the high densities of capillaries.
  • Very powerful heart to pump oxygenized blood to the muscles

3. Energy supply

  • The rete mirabile elevates the tunas body temperature and thereby the metabolization rate. (Faster digestion, quick travel of nerve impulses, muscles contratc about three times faster than in other fish)

4. Body shape

  • The high keeled, sickle shaped tail enables high propulsion
  • The streamline, smooth body reduces resistance in the water.
  • Tthe pectoral fins can be retracted into a groove
  • Gills fit tightly to body

Do fish eggs evaporate into the air?

Fish eggs do not evaporate in the air.

Eventually, almost instantly, the fish inside the egg will die.

That's when the egg is just left.

How much to feed a goldfish a day?

Can fish survive in dirty water?

Maybe. Some special fish can.

---------------------------------------------------

Improved section.

To answer this question, one must question your definition of "dirty".

If you mean simply murky water, then yes, most fish can easily survive in murky water. Only the most fragile of fish would be affected by having murky water, in which case their gills would possibly become inflamed.

HOWEVER, if you mean contaminated by chemicals, or by waste products produced by the fish itself, then no, or at-least not for extended periods. Think about it this way, the fish "breaths" from the same water it excretes all of it's waste into. Just as breathing in carbon-monoxide is lethal to humans above a certain concentration, as are waste products to fish. Man made pollution is even more dangerous to a fishes health.

Do goldfish go good with glow fish?

i thinks so because if a neon fish 2 inches long, a little gold fish can not fit it in its mouth.

You should be more worried about the neon fish getting eaten. Goldfish can get up to about a foot but they usually don't get THAT big (mine are about 6"). Goldfish will eat anything that will fit into it's mouth. Whether it is ghost shrimp, or a smaller goldfish, they will eat it.

How long does it take for the goldfish to get its orange color back?

Some varieties colour up after a few weeks and around half inch long and others take months and are a couple of inches long before they show colour. There are of course some that will never colour up.
